@juliet_turner6 Women often get degrees for the same reason they buy expensive handbags, to brag and for their image If they had to work for a living, they would have to get any job they can. But as is, they don’t even really use the fashionable degrees they get: x.com/simonsarris/st…

Recall one of the most insane graphs ever: After a decade men paid off ~30% of their loans and women paid off ~3% Men pay down student debt and women don't. They have different expectations around college's use and different sensitivity to cost-benefit.

@SanguineChester @RachelMoiselle Motherhood is the brief window, dickhead. We might get pushed out of the workplace when we have kids, but we fight to get back in. PS: Using AI to draft something that makes you sound vaguely sane is not the flex you imagine.

A large number of women pursue university degrees not because they intend to build a lifelong career but because it provides a respectable short term pathway into the labour market before they eventually shift into full time motherhood and part time work. The statistics show this clearly across Britain, Europe, and the United States. Female labour participation peaks in the twenties and early thirties and then drops sharply once children enter the picture. The degree provides a temporary professional identity and a period of financial independence, but for many women it is not the foundation of a forty year career. It is a bridge. Once family formation starts, the economic priorities change. Women overwhelmingly choose part time roles, flexible roles, and home centred routines because those are compatible with raising children. Employers know this. Universities know this. Governments know this. It is why entire industries are structured around short career arcs for women in their early adulthood. There is nothing wrong with this. It is simply how the incentives work. The problem is the fantasy that a degree is the central pillar of female economic life when in reality for millions of women it is a temporary credential used in a brief window before motherhood reshapes everything. The system produces over educated, under utilised workers who were never planning to remain in full time employment to begin with. That is why the modern university has become a holding pen as much as a training institution. It delays adulthood, creates temporary employability, and then hands women back to the family system the moment they decide to have children.

I am abolishing Police and Crime Commissioners. For over a decade, they have overseen our police forces but have failed to provide the sufficient democratic oversight they were set up to do. A change that will save us millions and see money reinvested into frontline policing. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Epstein described Trump as a “dirty” businessman who was “borderline insane,” untrustworthy and worse in “real life and upclose” than the image he sought to portray to the public. nytimes.com/live/2025/11/1…

‼️ Russia may have received kompromat on Trump from Epstein A year before his death, Jeffrey Epstein attempted to reach out to the Russian Foreign Ministry to pass information about Donald Trump to Sergey Lavrov and Vladimir Putin, Politico reports, citing Epstein’s correspondence released by U.S. Democrats. Epstein wrote to former Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, asking him to “suggest to Putin” that Lavrov contact him directly. Jagland replied that he would meet with Lavrov’s aide the next day and “pass along the proposal.” Whether the contact actually happened remains unknown. The emails also show that Epstein discussed Trump with Vitaly Churkin, Russia’s former Permanent Representative to the UN. Meanwhile, Democrats have released new documents from the Epstein case, claiming that Trump allegedly knew about the financier’s crimes and even spent several hours in the same house as one of his victims. The White House calls this “another attempt to smear the president.”

Democrats release Epstein letters referencing Trump The U.S. House Oversight Committee has published new letters from the case of convicted pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, in which President Donald Trump is mentioned several times. In correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein wrote that Trump was “a dog that hasn’t barked yet,” adding that an alleged victim had “spent many hours” at his home together with Trump. The context of the remark remains unclear. In another letter, Epstein claimed that Trump “knew about the girls” and “asked Ghislaine to stop.” The documents also suggest that Epstein and writer Michael Wolff discussed blackmailing Trump early in his 2015 presidential campaign. The White House called the publication an attempt at discrediting the president. Democrats, meanwhile, demand that all Epstein files be released, accusing the administration of “concealing the details” of Trump’s relationship with the financier. Trump has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.

@RestIsPolitics @RoryStewartUK @campbellclaret @GoogleUK What a fucking nightmare, and I say this as someone with a degree in AI. The government should NOT under any circumstances be using a LLM to summarise and categorise data because IT. MAKES. THINGS. UP. This will end with councils getting sued due to inaccuracies generated by LLM.

@bbcmtd Your evening bulletin today just said that Hallow is 'in the Malvern Hills'. DESPICABLE. I bet whoever wrote that could do a PhD on Kashmir but gets the collywobbles if they get as far as Bromsgrove. Your disdain for your own viewers is palpable.
