It’s surprising how often therapy acts as a confessional - deep guilt & shame are mitigated by the therapist not condeming or recoiling in horror but genuniely seeking to understand. “There but for the grace of God go I” is the attitude. In that move much healing is done.

@PaulGadsden82 Maybe because many got ME from chronic stress from being overachievers. Not everyone of course, ME can be triggered by many things.

I don't understand this idea that people with ME were highly driven and motivated before illness. Surely it is a stereotype that needs to die? It most certainly doesn't describe me at all.
