We have often blamed those who suffer for their trauma; we have failed to recognize that systems can be corrupt and power abused and that, like our Lord, many people in this world suffer from totally undeserved injustice and trauma.

If anyone is “winning” America’s war in Iran, it would be Vladimir Putin. As the United States, Israel, and Iran military strikes cause the price of oil to spike, it’s meant $6 billion more in Russian oil sales.    In the meantime, American troops remain in harm's way.

It is rare for German chancellor Merz to so openly criticize the Trump administration. He exactly puts the finger into the wound and correctly states that we have no shortage of oil. Throwing Russian oil into the market will only fill Putin’s pockets, without denting the oil price. So what are the real motives? Certainly nothing what could benefit the interests of the USA.

Before he joined the Trump Administration, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote that tariffs are inflationary. When he testified last month, I reminded him of his words. No matter how much he tries to deny it now, the president’s tariffs make life more expensive.

Myth: Most abusers are not like us. They are strangers, odd, mean, and certainly not Christian, let alone in a leadership position. Truth: The majority of abuse victims know and trust the person who commits the abuse.

The failure of Christian leaders to exercise godly power, withholding it in the face of sin, abuse, tyranny, or oppression, is to sin against a holy God for whom we have been complicit. We are a silent oppressor instead.

The thoughts, feelings, and pain of the victim do not matter. Healing from such trauma will require much TALK, TEARS, and TIME.

Trauma from sexual abuse occurs when normal responses, like calling for help or finding comfort in relationships, do not work. Power is robbed, dignity is stolen, and shaming helplessness occurs.

Clergy sexual abuse is not an affair; pedophilia is not about struggling with difficult circumstances; molesting adolescents is not about a struggling marriage. Such things must be called by their right names—the abuser needs to be held responsible for his/her abusive behavior.

My big takeaway from last night was that the President is the great divider not a unifier. No vision for the UNITED States or ONE Nation under God.
