Last night, petrol bombs were thrown at Finchley Reform Synagogue in London. Mercifully, the bottles didn't ignite, and, on this occasion, there was little damage and no injuries, but the evidence of yet more anti-Jewish hatred could not be clearer. We are a resilient community and we will never succumb to fear and intimidation.

Two blokes in balaclavas tried to firebomb Finchley Refrom Synagouge last night. The bombs did not ignite against the walls. I’ve been there a bunch of times, it’s lovely. The community is about as welcoming as can be. I’m about to do the family shopping about two minutes away. This is happening. This is real. WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!

The absolute state of the London liberal. Here we have a woman, likely a member of the "educated" elite, clutching a "Stop Bombing Iran" sign. She’s confronted by an Iranian woman—someone who has actually lived under the thumb of that regime, someone who has been imprisoned by them, someone who cannot even return to visit her father's grave. Does the protester listen? Does she pause to consider the reality of the "regime" she’s indirectly defending? Of course not. She offers a vacant, condescending smirk. The turquoise sea sparkles for miles under a vast, cloudless blue sky, warm water gently lapping at the powdery white sand that shifts & crunches softly between my bare toes. No keys, no car, no traffic, just the steady whisper of water & a light breeze carrying the fresh, salty scent of the ocean. The water is as still as a mill pond & acts as a natural barrier, keeping the rest of the world far away, so this place stays perfectly safe and untouched, no matter who you are or how loud things get elsewhere. It’s my own peaceful corner of the world, and it fills me with a deep, steady sense of calm that sinks right into my bones. I simply wade into that big blue water, feel the cool silk of it wrap around me, and let the pure serenity wash everything else away. It’s the antidote to a fractured world. The privilege of living simply in a far away place cannot be underestimated.
