@HaleyCarrots When we lived in NYC, my oldest daughter’s high school basically did this and it was wonderful! ‘This is our only fund raiser, pay now and never receive another fundraising email all year’ - by contrast for the other two the emails never stopped

@youngvulgarian I still remember the trauma I felt seeing the price of my first weekly shop in NYC. Assume you already know, but at least among the supermarket chains in Manhattan, Trader Joes is by far the best value (in that their prices are only a bit more than M&S)

@AntoniaBonello @DollyDeighton I did successfully manage to open a Chase account without an SSN - but seemingly required just about everyone in the branch to get involved. Think many of their staff don’t realise it’s possible. Apparently branches near UN are better -more used to dealing with folk with no SSN

WHY is it so hard to get a US bank account?! I just want to get paid 😩 Looking at you @Chase who says you can get an account without an SSN and then requires an SSN when you rearranged your whole weekend to go to a second appointment to open an account. Fml.

@dlknowles @TradingJeremy Had my first Amtrak journey the other day (NYC - DC) - operated to time & all seemed good… BUT… train was so shaky was near impossible to work - is that normal for Amtrak or was I unlucky with an old train? (Not Acela)
