Good morning and happy race day! There will be a fan-filled Coca-Cola 600 this evening, which is important as the state considers investing $45 million in motorsports. Here's what that money could mean for NC tracks and tourism: charlotteobserver.com/sports/nascar-…

Will Chase Elliott do something his father never did today and win the Coke 600? I think he will. My interview with and column about Elliott, the 25-year-old defending NASCAR champion: charlotteobserver.com/sports/spt-col…

More satisfying to the Bucks than some payback vs. Miami? Getting tangible results from their workshop of a regular season, seeing all the tweaking and tinkering pay off. Their No. 1 adversary this year was themselves. nba.com/news/bucks-hea…

@DanWolken I got a great lesson once when I asked a scout “(Player X) can’t be the 5th pick, right?” He replied “We can only take the next-best-one,” then lectured me on not thinking every draft is linear and comparable to the last.

@JLEdwardsIII Hard to answer this because Paul George gets so much disrespect and I can’t remember a retired superstar who is still getting dragged more than being appreciated But maybe Chris Webber, ‘Nique or Peak Gary Payton (before he signed on as a role player to win a ‘ship)

If PG never wins anything meaningful as one of the best two players on a team, who from the past has a comparable career narrative? Talented, considered in the highest of tiers, but missing it. As someone who has always rooted for him, I’m not telling my kids about him.

I found it interesting that Nate McMillan says Julius Randle’s handle is so good you must approach defending him as if he is a guard.

It doesn't appear Kyrie Irving is out here with the Nets for pregame layup lines.

@NickWilsonSays If the Hornets sign Noel, do all the “Biz has hands of stone” comments become “Noel has hands of stone” comments?

I’ve long thought creating free-throw attempts is the least appreciated skill in basketball. Trae Young is so crafty at that.
