SAFETY NETTING & SUCCESS
I had dinner this week with a successful Nigerian businessman and his 17 year old son who is about to start Engineering at UofT 🇨🇦 .
As I listened to them talk about the future, I couldn’t help but think about how different the starting lines can be in life.
See eh, some people begin the race with supportive parents, financial security, great schools, powerful networks, and opportunities already within reach. That’s a privilege, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging it.
Others start much further back. No connections. No safety net. No shortcuts.
Life is not always a level playing field.
The mistake is pretending everyone started from the same place.
Recognize your advantages if you have them. Be grateful for them.
And if you didn’t start with those advantages, understand that your journey may require more sacrifice, more resilience, and more persistence.
Different starting lines. Different obstacles. Different timelines.
Run your race gracefully, anyway. You might just turn out fine.

@whales_medics I'll appreciate if I can be among the lucky ones.

@SirJarus I don't know where una dey buy this your water o
In my house we've 2 big tanks outside for people consumption free of charge
English

The shock for me here is people selling water.
Where I come from, every upper middle class person (not to talk of rich person) that has a decent house has a tap outside or inside their compound where people fetch water for free.

Living in Northern Nigeria. We had to get water from a different compound and I went with money because I’m used to water being sold. They looked at me like I was insane. Sorry please, it’s not free where I am coming from.

@isiihenyen @aproko_doctor I think you'll do well if you explain in details to us, ma'am
English

@aproko_doctor What you could have done here is explain to the public the difference between GERD and PUD.
What Nigerians mostly call ulcer is GERD, and you don’t need endoscopy to diagnose it.
English

The only way to be sure you have an ulcer is for a doctor to take a small camera and check the inside of your stomach. If it's not that, what you're doing is guess work.
First question; How do you know it is ULCER?
Everest@novieverest
Ulcer people, how are you coping? Gaviscon double suspension is 13k and it lasts for just about a week.

@Poeticmedic1 Only 5 Distinctions in preclinical, none in path and pharm, hopefully we'll record the highest in O&G and Pead... Distinction is easy una
English

Someone had 3/5 distinctions in my last exam (400 level exams). He is the first in the school's history to do such. Nobody besides him in my class has ever gotten a distinction. We are 200 in said class. It is also his first ever distinction.
What about a distinction is easy to you?
Alex🇵🇹@Sungjinwoo70
Most times when I see a post about MBBS students graduating, most of them usually have distinction in their courses If it’s that easy to get distinction in Medicine, what’s all the fuss about being the “hardest” course about?

@omoalhajaabiola As-salamu ālaykūm warahmatullahi wabarakatuh Good morning, Chief
What skills can you advice a medical student to learn?
Thank you and God bless you.
English

Why do trained accountants suddenly want to learn UI/UX design or devops? I understand you want to freelance (By the way, freelancing doesn’t stop you from keeping your 9–5 or pursuing your long-term career goals)
But I will never understand why people who journeyed through 4-5 years of rigorous academic training suddenly want to become a designer.
Excel alone is enough to make money online if you are hell bent on being a freelancer.
There are countless freelance gigs and real-world business problems that require solid Excel and financial analysis skills.
