@THEChrisKessell Sounds good. I had not heard of ITC until your post, but your proposal sounds reasonable to me.

@rkramb Yes, you do. I only care about the ITC process. My solution is, USSF gives provisional approval and if the other FA comes back with it flagged then you contact the club and move forward. It is backwards. We hold up kids playing for no reason.

Hey @jtbatson and @cone_cindy the ITC process for recreational soccer players is... frankly, dumb. Every single year kids do not play local "recreational" soccer because of it. Every year kids are told they aren't allowed to play because of it. IDGAF about FIFA rules.

If it isn't a professional academy setting who gives a fuck where the kid was born?

@bendreyfuss But it's s plural. "They're better than your's" Must be a different body part. 🤔

“if you knew anything about her you’d know that the lyrics ‘my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard damn right they’re better than yours I could teach you but I’d have to charge’ were not a reference to pussy, but in fact to milkshakes which Kelis has always loved”

even if Homer had included a little production note that said “all characters are white please think of them as white” it still wouldn’t mean that skin color is central to the drama. It would just be what he wanted. Great. But like every other artist, his intent is opt-in.
Ann Coulter@AnnCoulter

Homer, Euripides, Virgil and Ovid were not writing myths about African gods, any more than they were writing myths about Martians. That's kinda central to the stories.

@Jon_Mackenzie If relationism is inside of positional play, what then is something that is non positional play? Is there any example of non positional play in modern football? @stirling_j

The analogy here falls flat. I'm not trying to argue that relational approaches are indistinguishable from other positional approaches. A rhino is very different to a butterfly despite both being animals.
Jamie Hamilton@stirling_j

Claiming that relational (non-zonal) attacking is a 'subset' of positional (zonal) attacking is like saying M2M (non-zonal) defending is a subset of zonal defending. Such a proposition betrays a significant misunderstanding about the meaning of these terms.

Again, any 'tactical' terminology must be grounded in the way that players perceive references during play. For the player in a Positional system, 'correct' spacing between themselves and teammates/opponents is primary. In relationism, ball-oriented connections are primary.

@THEChrisKessell Great coaching vision to get them comfortable with bigger kids. The 11-14 age range has so many different size kids as they all grow at different points. Sometimes I see the smaller ones resort to playing for fouls instead of learning to use their size and speed.

A little clip of one of our u12 kids playing in our MS 7v7 league this season. I love the juxtaposition of Trey being half the size of the kids he is up against as he takes a little touch around the defender... out paces another defender and the cool as you like finish.

@DKThomp Does this match a trend in drunk driving or car accidents for HS age drivers?

It's remarkable how many independent, secular trends are anti-alcohol right now. Just off the top of my head - GLP-1s - post-1970s rise of helicopter parenting - reaction to the binge-drinking spike in late 20th c - phones killing teenage partying - surge in young adult fitness (dancing clubs down, running clubs up) - general rise of healthmaxxing culture among both liberal yuppies and MAHA devotees

Love salary release day and taking a look at the #Crew96 list. Makes for uncomfortable reading. "To have one non-performing DP, Mr. Tall, may be regarded as a misfortune; to have three non-performing DPs looks like carelessness."

If you're looking for a thoughtful and funny football podcast, try The Away End. I talked to Daniel Alarcón and the novelist John Green (who turns out to be a stone-cold soccer fanatic) about my new book World Cup Fever, and, yes, the World Cup itself omny.fm/shows/the-away…

MLS NEXT: 135 clubs, 14,000 players. About 30 are actual MLS academies. The other 105 are private clubs charging $3,000-plus a season for a roster spot inside an MLS-branded league. A few dozen Homegrown contracts get signed each year. The other 13,000 kids get a logo on the jersey and an invoice in the inbox. The league is the marketing layer. Development is still parent-paid.

Kids should not be playing 11 v 11 on adult sized pitches. Most of them are not physically capable of utilizing the size of the pitch, it reduces the interaction each kid has In the game, goal size is way too big for most goal keepers. Smaller game formats are so much more beneficial for kids! ⚽️
