Nur Belgien ist schlimmer. Nicht die USA, nicht Frankreich, nicht Japan - Deutschland. Und die Debatte in Berlin? Es wird über Steuererhöhungen gesprochen. Nicht Senkungen. Erhöhungen. Jetzt stell dir vor wie das für die Generation Z aussieht. Die erste Generation die komplett digital aufgewachsen ist. Smartphone in der Tasche seit sie denken können, Internet als Grundversorgung, KI als Werkzeug. Diese Leute denken nicht in Landesgrenzen. Die denken in Zeitzonen und WLAN-Geschwindigkeiten. Dubai hat null Prozent Einkommensteuer und vergibt Golden Visas an Tech-Talente in 48 Stunden. Singapur holt aktiv Entwickler. Die Emirate bauen ganze Stadtteile um AI-Hubs herum. Portugal lockt mit Steuermodellen die Digital Nomads behandeln als wären sie Investoren. Was macht Deutschland? Diskutiert über höhere Einkommensteuerstufen. Ernsthaft. Die Generation Y - die Millennials - war die letzte Generation die ohne Technik groß geworden ist. Die haben noch Festnetztelefon und Faxgerät erlebt. Die hatten einen anderen Deal mit dem System: Ich zahl rein, ich krieg was raus. Rente, Sicherheit, ein planbares Leben. Dieser Deal existiert für Gen Z nicht. Sie sehen: Das Rentensystem trägt nicht. Die Infrastruktur bröckelt. Digitalisierung? Deutschland liegt beim Glasfaserausbau hinter Rumänien. Und für das Privileg, in einem Land mit 12 Mbit/s-Internet zu leben, gehen 47,9 Prozent an einen Staat der ihr Geld in Bürokratie versenkt statt in Zukunft zu investieren. Gen Y hat den Übergang mitgemacht - vom Nokia zum iPhone, vom Brockhaus zu Wikipedia, vom Festgehalt zur Gig Economy. Die wissen noch was Anpassung kostet. Aber Gen Z? Für die ist Remote Work kein Trend. Das ist der Normalzustand. Und wenn dein Normalzustand ist, dass du von überall arbeiten kannst - warum solltest du ausgerechnet dort arbeiten, wo man dir am meisten wegnimmt? KI explodiert gerade. Nicht irgendwann, nicht in zehn Jahren - jetzt. Junge Leute bauen mit ChatGPT, N8N und Midjourney echte Unternehmen auf. Solo-Entwickler schreiben Software die vor drei Jahren ganze Teams gebraucht hätte. Freelancer automatisieren komplette Workflows und verdienen sechsstellig von ihrem Laptop aus. Das ist die größte Umwälzung des Arbeitsmarkts seit dem Internet. Und Deutschland besteuert diese Leute als wären sie Fabrikarbeiter in der Tarifstufe 4. Mit einem Steuersystem das für eine Industriegesellschaft gebaut wurde, in der du 40 Jahre bei Siemens warst und danach deine Rente bekommen hast. Denkt irgendjemand in Berlin darüber nach, was passiert wenn diese Talente merken, dass sie überall arbeiten können? Dass ein 25-Jähriger mit KI-Skills in der gleichen Stunde Geld für einen Kunden in New York verdient, egal ob er in München oder auf Bali sitzt? Und dass Bali nicht 47,9 Prozent nimmt? Ich sehe keine einzige ernsthafte Debatte die fragt: Wie halten wir die klügsten Köpfe im Land? Kein Steuermodell für digitale Selbstständige. Kein Gründervisum das mit Dubai konkurrieren kann. Keine Vision die anerkennt, dass Talent die wertvollste Ressource auf dem Planeten ist - und Talent hat Beine. Stattdessen: Solidaritätszuschlag. Kirchensteuer. Progressionsvorbehalt. Kalte Progression. Begriffe aus einem Deutschland das es nicht mehr gibt. Und wenn du gehst, bist du der Unpatriotische. Der Undankbare. Der, der dem System den Rücken kehrt und ausgenutzt hat. Habe ich schon alles gehört! Weißt du was ich sehe? 27-Jährige die ihre GmbH abmelden und mit einem Laptop nach Lissabon fliegen. Die in Dubai ein Gewerbe anmelden das in einer Stunde steht. Die in Singapur innerhalb einer Woche ein Bankkonto eröffnen, ihre Krypto-Gewinne steuerfrei realisieren und in Co-Working-Spaces sitzen die besser ausgestattet sind als jede deutsche Behörde. Das Perverse: Die Abwanderung der Besten beschleunigt genau das Problem das sie verhindern soll. Weniger Hochverdiener, weniger Steuereinnahmen. Weniger Steuereinnahmen, höhere Abgaben für die, die bleiben. Die bleiben, sehen weniger Leistung, fragen sich: Warum eigentlich noch? Ein Teufelskreis den jeder BWL-Erstie im ersten Semester durchschaut. Aber Berlin? Berlin plant die nächste Erhöhung. Andere Länder haben begriffen, dass man um Talente kämpfen muss. Dass Steuerpolitik Standortpolitik ist. Dass ein junger Gründer mit KI-Skills und Laptop in Dubai mehr Wertschöpfung erzeugt als zehn Sachbearbeiter die Formulare abstempeln. Und dass dieser Gründer dorthin geht, wo man ihn willkommen heißt. Deutschland heißt ihn willkommen - mit einem Steuerbescheid über 47,9 Prozent und einem Termin beim Finanzamt in acht Wochen. Viel Glück damit.

the original TurboQuant paper tested on A100 with models up to 8B. 6 days later, a bunch of strangers on the internet had it built and running on: - Apple Silicon M1 through M5 - NVIDIA 3080 Ti through DGX Spark Blackwell - AMD RX 6800 XT and 9070 - a 10-year-old Tesla P40 - an 8GB MacBook Air - models from 3.8B to 70B across 6 architecture families - 30+ independent testers along the way we found new optimizations the paper didn't cover and failure modes it didn't test. the fact that a loose group of people across the world can read a paper, build implementations from scratch, stress-test across hardware none of us could individually afford, and push the research further in under a week is genuinely one of the best things about this era. the tools and the community make it possible. open source is something else.

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.

Just wanted to mention: I watch @digitalfoundry regularly. I saw their DLSS 5 video when they posted it. It was actually the first time I saw DLSS 5. While I was surprised they liked it - since in my opinion it did not look good - that's one of the reasons I watch other people's shows. If I only wanted to hear my own opinions of things, I'd just watch my own channel :) I know it's stressful when a large percentage of your audience is mad about something. I can absolutely understand why Digital Foundry wanted to backpedal a bit on their initial strongly-favorable coverage. But for that same reason, I felt like I should take this opportunity to say: I watch Digital Foundry regularly. I was happy to see their initial coverage of DLSS 5. I had no problem with it, and I couldn't care less if their opinion about it differs from mine. If anything, that's a plus. And furthermore, it seems like both @dark1x and @Dachsjaeger weren't as enthusiastic about it. That actually makes me look forward to more coverage on the channel, since having both people who like and who dislike DLSS 5 should make for some great videos!

I know there is some overlap between open source and anti-AI activists, but I have a hard time reconciling it. My million+ open source LOC were always intended as a gift to the world. Yes, I would make arguments about how it would strengthen our communities, and the GPL would prevent outright exploitation by our competitors, but those were to allay fears of my partners to allow me to make the gift. AI training on the code magnifies the value of the gift. I am enthusiastic about it! Some people do look at open source as a tool for social change, career advancement, or reputation building, but those are all downstream of the gift.
