The issue with this is that there’s actually nothing stopping these routes being operated right now. Yes, slots are a valuable commodity at Heathrow, but, if these routes would be profitable, they could all be operated right now. But they aren’t….

✈️ Belfast International Airport, Cornwall Airport Newquay, Leeds Bradford Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Teesside International Airport have been identified as the most likely to benefit from new or restored Heathrow connections to Heathrow, when additional airport capacity is delivered by a third runway. New research from @FrontierEcon highlights the five UK airports as the strongest candidates for new domestic routes linked to Heathrow, the UK’s hub airport, based on clear evidence of underlying demand from passengers. @HeathrowAirport is already operating at capacity. In 2025 almost 5 million passengers travelled across Heathrow’s domestic routes, supporting an estimated £1.2bn in gross tourism spend nationwide. I support the overwhelming majority of the Government’s Plan for Growth, but on this issue the Chancellor is just wrong. And I have a sneaky feeling that taxpayers will have to cough up billions to subsidise road and rail upgrades required for the project #heathrowexpansion

Great to visit @manairport to hear about all the investment into Terminal 2. This now means that 95% of passengers hardly wait at all in queues for security and to get onboard. The offer inside has really improved too. Manchester Airport is so vital to our city, connecting us to trade, visitors and much more.

Made a (rare) flight (from 🇮🇹) into Heathrow today. Appalling service from @British_Airways. Had to wait 43 minutes for this bus to arrive to take us to T5. The reason: “lack of available buses”. Perfect example of how @HeathrowAirport needs to be #betternotbigger

I first raised the road surface problem (which led to buses not being able to serve the station) with Network Rail in January 2020 when I lived in West Drayton, so very glad to see this is *finally* getting completed, albeit after nearly 5 years!!!

The Elizabeth Line is a great resource to have here in Yiewsley. However, the bus service has not ran from the station for some time. After pushing Network Rail, I'm happy to say that works are due to be completed soon and we are closer to getting our bus service back.

Heathrow is allowed only 1,315 take-offs and landings each day. In the busiest years all but a handful are used. The boss of the UK's busiest airport tells me a 3rd runway will go ahead. Until "R3" opens passenger numbers will rise thanks to bigger planes. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

No 3rd Runway Coalition says: “Heathrow is already the country’s biggest polluter. Any plans for a 3rd runway will be subject to four tests, including on binding climate laws, air and noise pollution. Heathrow has an almighty, if not impossible, task at overcoming these hurdles.”
