Biggest risk for security agent startups: no moat. I used to think the harness mattered, then coding agents went from thousand-token system prompts to "just do the task" with a bash shell. So the moat probably isn’t that part, it’s the human-in-loop + data pipeline (bug bounties, on-chain deployed code, etc). #toc_11" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">mariozechner.at/posts/2025-11-…

@DougieDeLuca Incredible Take, Dougie. With all of the institutional adoption we've been shouting about for a decade now happening, we're entering a new world and most OG's will not be able to evolve.

It is absolutely wild to me that the U.S. is printing money out of thin air and debasing the dollar by ~8% a year and yet 99% of people have literally ZERO idea it’s happening.

lots of sophisticated phishing attacks going around lately. all of these have been attempted on me. sadly seen a lot of cases where people did lose funds in these ways: - real person (hacked) you've interacted before DMs you on TG and asks to catch up, send a zoom, looks like a real-ish zoom URL, asks you to download a client to "fix" audio, everything drained - credible/real news org DMs you out of the blue on their official X account, asks for an interview, send you to a (fake) TG account, sends the (fake but real-looking) zoom link. this has happened to me with (major) news orgs that didn't even know they were hacked - one of your "colleagues" asks for funds via email, email looks real, but headers are faked - blitz of messages saying your coinbase has been hacked, yadda yadda, "support" calls and asks you to move your assets to a temporary address with some time pressure ("the "hackers" submitted the transaction but you still have time!") general rules of thumb (not exhaustive) - use @CasaHODL - use @River for a custodial option - don't keep a ton of funds on browser wallets like m*tamask or ph*ntom - don't google crypto platforms and click the first link (hackers buy ads to put fake links in there) - secure everything, not just wallets. this includes google, telegram, icloud, etc. - don't answer phone calls from "support". hang up and call back on the official support line if you have to - don't trust anything you hear on the phone especially if you're being pressured to do something - don't answer calls from unknown numbers even if they seem like they're from "Google" or "Coinbase" - be suspicious of emails or DMs from your "colleagues". know that email headers can be faked (ask AI for help analyzing headers if youre suspicious) - double check that DMs from "friends" are real and they haven't been hacked - make sure you have physical 2fa + authy/google authenticator on everything - avoid SMS based 2fa wherever possible

i've noticed a weird aversion to using AI on the left. not sure if it's a climate or an IP thing or what, but it seems like a massive self-own to deduct yourself 30+ points of IQ because you don't like the tech

show me the incentives and I will show you the outcome. EOS didn’t work because you can’t give someone $4 billion and then expect them to have any kind of interest in actually executing. Ever since then all they’ve been doing is white washing those investor funds with voice.com, and now Bullish and CoinDesk. It genuinely amazes me that Block one is still a company and still actually employs people.

Why Solana won and EOS didn't. About 7 years ago (2018) I got interested in the EOS Blockchain, which promised to deliver extremely fast transactions, at low prices. Essentially "Ethereum on Steroids", as the name indicated. If it sounded like Solana, you are basically right. Same VC: MultiCoin Capital, same performance for the average user (more or less instanteous), much fewer validators (21 active versus 1,000) -- but the average user couldn't care less. So why did EOS not make it, and Solana did? In my opinion, it was mainly timing. EOS came out in 2018, just as the SEC started cracking down on ICOs. DeFi hadn't really started yet, and neither had the token creation / speculation casino that Bitcoiners love to criticize. The mood was somber. And while Block1, the creators of EOS raised 4 Billion, the funds were tied up legally and never deployed in the EOS ecosystem. By 2020, when Solana emerged, we were off to the races. NFTs had emerged. DeFi was in full swing, and a number of new blockchains were the talk of the town. Solana had great branding, as the "fastest possible", and the backing of FTX, which if we can remember, was perceived as king of the hill. Solana could have died in the crash of 2022, but they had lots and lots of money, and the story was too good to put down. At the end of the day, they scooped up all the users with the "Ethereum but faster and cheaper narrative". The Phantom wallet, and a number of great ecosystem components (Raydium, Jupiter) rounded out the offering. The critcical mass, which EOS just missed, was achieved. (I built the leading EOS wallet, and I love Phantom. Good stuff). As evan, the cofounder of SUI points out, the race isn't "over", but Solana has a big lead. And regardless of who wins, the user experience (wallets, dexes, apps) has now been figured out and is going to absolutely work IMHO over the next 5 years. Esp with a crypto friendly admin. Chris Dixon will be right. Web3 is going to happen.
