@L2_J2 @williamnhutton Perhaps you shld do some research. While it is entirely true that Earth has gone through massive cycles of heating and cooling over its 4.5-billion-year history, the rate of the current warming is what makes it unprecedented and alarming.

@williamnhutton The earth has been heating up and cooling down for 4,500,000,000 years. There is plenty of evidence to support this in the historical records. You've simply believed that it's all the fault of cars and what comes out of a cows arse. Try doing some real research for yourself.

After a day like this, only fools think burning fossil fuels for any longer than is necessary makes sense. The much derided Ed Miliband is right: his critics ultimately enemies of life on earth. news.sky.com/story/weather-…

Nonsense. In most families it is mutual support where one parent may be the only paid employee for a time while the other parent supports by childcare and home care. Both have contributed in different ways in that time. My wife had a break from paid employment rearing our children and returned to teaching when the youngest was old enough to look after herself.

🚨Your pension is about to be raided and HMRC just confirmed how.... From April 2027, pension schemes will be allowed to withhold up to half of your retirement savings to cover inheritance tax. They can hold onto that money for up to 15 months while they work out what is owed Pensions used to sit outside inheritance tax entirely. From April 2027 they get hit with the standard 40% rate like everything else So your family loses up to 40% of what you spent a lifetime saving. The pension company sits on the other half for over a year before anyone sees a penny. Funeral costs, mortgage payments, school fees, none of it can be covered while the money is locked up The policy was announced by Rachel Reeves in the 2024 Budget. The operational detail confirming the 50% withholding rule was quietly published by HMRC this week, with final guidance not due until spring 2027, weeks before the deadline 10,500 estates will be dragged into inheritance tax for the first time. Another 38,500 will pay more. Average extra bill, £34,000 And this is how these things always work. The threshold starts high, the public is told it only affects the wealthy, and the numbers stay frozen while everything else rises The inheritance tax threshold has been stuck at £325,000 since 2009. House prices have nearly doubled in that time Every year, more ordinary families get pulled in without a single rule changing The government calls this closing a loophole. What it actually does is treat your pension like another revenue stream for the Treasury. Money you saved out of taxed income gets taxed again on the way out If you have a pension, this affects you. Check what your scheme is planning before April 2027 arrives Follow me to stay informed

@provemewrong411 Putin is a war criminal and I wld remind you Russia are the aggresors. This war could end overnight if Putin ordered a complete withdrawal from occupied Ukraine but of course he wont because his future is now tied in with continuing the bloodshed and sacrificing yet more lives.

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America. The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation. The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.” Nope. We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.
Gerard Baker@gerardtbaker

The casuistry here is remarkable. This is the simple reality: Like most Americans, most Europeans think this war is a bad idea.Their governments are being asked to take a huge risk by a man who has proved unreliable, volatile and intemperate over and over. Who would do that?

My president is Donald Trump. I am pleased and proud to say I voted for him. I have never lived under a dictatorship. I am very thankful for that blessing. My king, who is also the king of kings, wore a crown of thorns and died on a cross to save all of us from our sins. My heart and soul lies with the Heavenly Father. All of this “righteous” political rhetoric is temporary and fleeting, bathed in self-interest, and means nothing.

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

Instead of fighting over a 21-mile-wide bottleneck forever, we cut a new channel through friendly territory. A dozen thermonuclear detonations and you’ve got a waterway wider than the Panama Canal, deeper than the Suez, and safe from Iranian attacks. chinatalk.media/p/its-time

@YorkshireWater TY. The decision not to award a bonus was correct albeit no CEO in the water sector shld take any bonus. When your CEO was hired she wld hv been on full capacity. I wld qustion why at a later date she was given an extra role in the parent coy for which she receives an extra £660K

Hi @robcsmorton Our CEO, Nicola Shaw, had already made the decision that it would not be appropriate for her to receive an annual bonus this year due to the company’s performance on pollution and a recognition that we need to do better for the communities we serve and earn trust. She has also taken the decision to waive her entitlement to an additional bonus that would have vested under our longer-term incentive scheme - Yorkshire Water Social Team

Every congressional democrat and every democrat who's running for president should be asked a simple question: Do you think this officer was wrong in defending his life against a deranged leftist who tried to run him over? These people are going to try to arrest our law enforcement for doing their jobs. The least the media could do is ask them about it. x.com/i/status/20089…

A drone that flies through the sky — and swims underwater. Yes, you read that right. One student just built it. Andrei Copaci created this hybrid drone for his Bachelor’s project — 3D-printed, self-coded, and powered by variable-pitch propellers that adapt mid-flight to move seamlessly between air and water. And it actually works. To me, this isn’t just a cool gadget. It’s a wake-up call. We’re watching the line between “student projects” and “industry breakthroughs” disappear. One person, a laptop, and a printer can now do what once required millions in funding and government labs. So here’s the real question: If innovation is becoming this accessible — what happens to companies and industries that still think disruption comes only from big budgets? #AI #Innovation #Technology #Robotics #FutureOfWork #STEM
