I’m thankful for the opportunity to speak at @CPAC this morning in Dallas, Texas. Whether you consider yourself conservative, liberal, or anything else, we are all sinners in need of a Savior. I told the crowd at CPAC that God loves them, but we have to turn from our sin, repent, believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and trust Him as our Savior—and we will be saved.

This is what you said: “God loves you. He loves his country. And I love Donald Trump! Is he perfect? No. But I love that guy! I love him. And we’ll only have one chance at this. We’ll never get another president like Donald Trump! Never! (CHEERS). Thank you! And that’s why it’s important that we do everything that we can to try to get him reelected! He stands not only for religious freedom, he stands up for Christians, like no president we’ve ever had. He’s not afraid, he’s not ashamed of the name of Jesus Christ. Other people are ashamed, he is not ashamed! And I just appreciate that so much about him.” You are going to stand before God, Mr. Graham, for your idolatry. You just used your influence to tell the whole world that Donald Trump is a great example of someone who loves Jesus. There’s nothing - absolutely nothing- about Donald Trump that aligns with the life, ministry, character, and mission of Jesus Christ. You are using your influence to intentionally mislead people for political gain. God is going to hold you accountable.

@drantbradley What do you think about this? “In recent years, the notion that America’s young men are in crisis has rapidly solidified into conventional wisdom. “Seldom in recent memory has there been a cohort that’s fallen farther, faster,” the angel investor, best-selling author, and personal-finance guru Scott Galloway writes in his new book, “Notes on Being a Man.” To make his case, Galloway pulls from a heavily circulated set of statistics. At colleges and universities nationwide, female students outnumber males by about three to two. Among young adults, men are more likely than women to live with their parents; by their mid-30s, more than 15 per cent of men still live with their folks, compared to less than nine per cent of women. Men die by suicide at about three and a half times the rate that women do. Currently, the unemployment rate among young men with bachelor’s degrees between the ages of 23 and 30 is close to double that of their female peers. What is going on? “There is no question that the generations-long erosion of the U.S. manufacturing base, and the diminution of the unionized pension jobs that this sector had offered, disproportionately harmed working-class men,” Jessica Winter writes. “Yet, if you tilt some of the most commonly cited data points this way or that, you can just as easily argue on the behalf of a woman crisis as a man crisis—or, perhaps most accurately, for an ongoing multidirectional crisis affecting us all.” Winter considers what the discourse about the challenges facing young men is missing: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/PKsNLo

This weekend, Enough: Simplicity, Generosity and Joy. My sermon begins with why generosity matters and examples of it in the light of the government shutdown. Then moves to the words related to generosity that appear over 4,000 times in the Bible. We'll consider research from The Paradox of Generosity and The Psychology of Money. We'll look at one of the reasons we struggle with generosity, and finally, I'll take you to where LaVon and my ashes will be placed when we die. Join us this weekend for worship at The Church of the Resurrection

True love = Service. To love is to serve, and to serve is to love. This is why, in all of my pre-marital, pastoral counseling sessions, I tell marital prospects, “don’t get married because you are excited about how this person will make you happy and how he/she will serve you. Get married when you are ready to spend the rest of your life serving your spouse.” To twist a phrase from president John F. Kennedy, “ask not, ‘what can my spouse do for me?’ Ask, rather, ‘what can I do for my spouse,’”. THIS is true love.

@CSLewisDaily You might own C.S. Lewis, but Jesus cannot be claimed by ANY political faction or group and it is downright idolatrous for you to suggest so.

@CSLewisDaily And? He certainly would not be owned by the right or left? Jesus transcends this chaos we're because of our hatred, narrowmindedness, snd selfishness. Show me, in Scripture, how you disagree.

@robertgj5166 @TexasFootball Tell me you don’t know ball without telling me you don’t know Ball. This Texas team is good real good. The defense has been playing hard for this coach. It’s time to give Sark an extension and let him know we’re 100% behind him 💪 🐂 🏈 .

@colincowherd Texas is the worst - most poorly coached - team in power 5 college football. Watch and observe, today, how the Longhorn players underperform, are unmotivated, lack energy, lack guts, make numerous stupid mistakes, and are unprepared. Watch. I keep telling yall that Sark is the problem. He is not a head coach. He is an offensive coordinator. He does not know how to motivate young men.

Bro., no one is above criticism, including Congresswoman Crockett. But when you look at the American political landscape, is she what/who concerns you most? The most dangerous person in America is @RepJasmine ? Really? If not, them why is she the primary object of your "straight shooting"?

Good people are, too often, so bad at understanding, embracing, exercising power. Some Christians have even come to believe, erroneously, that power is a bad thing. Jesus never told his followers to give up power. He taught us to use power to do what is right in God's sight. Furthermore, he even promised us that God will give is an added form of power from an extradinary, transcendent source. ("The Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will receive POWER.") Humility and meekness are NOT devoid of power. These virtues are power exercised wisely, compassionately, and righteously. They are the strength and ferocity of a lion under the yoke of a lamb. According to Jesus' understanding, authentic love is an exercise of power (service). By the way, a free democracy requires a kind of Jesus-shaped exercise of power. Friends, are you embracing and exercising the power God has given you?

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” Mt.22:42. “Jesus refused to allow his followers to proclaim him Messiah until he taught them what Messiahship meant. Their ideas required radical change. Messiah was thought of in nationalistic, political, military terms of power and glory. This is another attempt by Jesus to alter that conception.” Barclay, William. 2001. The Gospel of Matthew
