I’ve been very critical of the @LPGA broadcasts in the past—but today, it’s all positive. • Drone shots are excellent • Music/audio is a big step up • 3-wide with @Kstupples is a bonus But the biggest upgrade? The golf course. This is the stage they deserve. Well done.

A major cause of the reduction of upsets is being completely overlooked — the adoption of the same analytics and focus on efficiency by almost all teams. Only 5-6 years ago, many of us still believed that defense wins championships and hadn’t yet realized that a three-pointer is so much more efficient than a midrange jumper. This led to top teams being inherently more vulnerable. If, as an underdog, you caught a top seed that was slower paced, defensive-minded, and short on shooting, you could beat them with a hot shooting night or a defensive scheme that baited them into taking inefficient shots. Now, the big dogs have optimized their style of play. The big dogs and the underdogs are playing the exact same brand of basketball, but the big dogs have much better players. Take these two Illinois teams as an example: 2020-2021 #1-seed Illinois (#8 ORtg KP) - #320 three-point rate (30.0%) - #54 OREB % (30.3) - Lost in second round to Loyola Chicago, making 4 threes and securing 5 OREBs 2025-2026 #3-seed Illinois (#2 ORtg KP) - #13 three-point rate (50.6%) - #3 OREB % (38.9) - Beat Penn in first round making 15 threes and securing 20 OREBs Coached by the same guy, their entire philosophy has shifted in five years and had made them much more immune to upsets. Other high majors have size and athletes to combat this and potentially turn the reliance on threes into a weakness. But mid-majors don’t. The talent gap has always been there, but now, rather than finding clever ways to compete, mid-majors are forced to try to beat the powerhouses at their own game.

One thing I will say: I know Sean Miller will always be self-deprecating and give props to the players involved on the other side, but I thought his defensive game plan to use Matas Vokietaitis to help off of the big and double or provide paint help on Dybantsa was outstanding.

🚨Career announcement🚨: I've worked really hard in this industry over the last eight years to help build friendships, community and traction within this space. I am extremely proud of everything that has been accomplished, but I have decided to leave my current position at RB. Since this is a rather abrupt answer, I don't have everything in place yet, but we are going to come back bigger, better, and stronger than ever. For the time being, I will be releasing my model for free on this website and creating a public Discord channel for everyone to join. If you have never had the chance to be a part of our great community, I hope you will join the fun. I couldn't do this without everyone on this website, and I appreciate all the support. I love you guys and will continue to update as my next moves become clearer.

BLADES BROWN WATCH It's been two years since we followed Neal Shipley chasing Special Temporary Membership, but w/ Blades Brown's solo 3rd at the @PuertoRicoOpen, it's time to fire up a new one. He's eligible for the @ValsparChamp via the top 10. Would need a solo 5th to cover.

On yesterday’s broadcast, @K_Kisner discussed how Austin Smotherman has found recent success with putting coach Josh Gregory. With driver, Austin told Josh he picks a target, and he hits it. When Josh asked, “How do you putt?” he had to cut Austin off after about 5 minutes of explanation. “Why don’t we start putting like we hit driver?” Great lesson here.
