@RachelReevesMP Why does this sound like an idea from a communist regime? I’m sure there was a certain German leader with similar ideas? The government is so out of touch that they believe these ideas are what was missing prior to the local elections.

I want every family to have fun this summer. That's why I’m cutting VAT on children’s activities and meals with Great British Summer Savings. Our economic plan is the right one, to support families and businesses, and build a stronger and more secure Britain.

I didn’t expect so many likes and comments. The overall problem is a mixture of taxes, including council tax, corporation tax, and income tax, alongside the rising cost of running the property. I should also say that bookings are way down this year, probably due to the cost of living. I do appreciate that everyone’s tax situation is different, and the barn could work for some people. But I really would like to know how a small traditional UK business has any chance of earning a profit.

@RachelReevesMP @RupertLowe10 @Nigel_Farage @Keir_Starmer @bbclaurak Rachel Reeves, I planned carefully for retirement. A North Norfolk holiday-let barn was meant to provide income, pay tax, employ cleaners, use local trades and support a holiday letting business. On an example £1,000 booking, after the £180 commission, £150 cleaning and laundry costs, £50 electricity, £40 water and £40 council tax, only £540 remains before maintenance and repairs. After 25% corporation tax, that falls to £405. If the remaining income is then taxed at 40%, the owner is left with just £243 from the original £1,000 booking. Remember, this is before allowing for any maintenance, repairs, insurance or mortgage costs. And the electrical PAT testing last year was needed. Now that company will receive no further income. It is becoming impossible for a small Limited company to earn money. How coffee shops, pubs, guesthouses and other small businesses survive with staff, rent, tax, regulation, insurance and rising costs is beyond me. Make small enterprise pointless and people stop doing it. Then government gets no tax. Cleaners get no work. Agents get no commission. Local trades lose jobs. That is not growth.

@JackieD86388657 You are totally wrong. We have breakfast clubs and now struggling people can have a day out at a slight discount.

I searched ‘best trainers’ using AI, no website was cited other than some tiny source links. Why would publications such as Runners World bother to spend their time testing trainers? I’m unsure why Gemini doesn’t say, here’s what I would recommend and by the way, checkout the source material with proper citation.

Last week’s strong growth figures show that this government has the right economic plan. Today, the IMF has upgraded the UK’s growth forecast. We are building a stronger, fairer Britain.

@Keir_Starmer My 70 year old mother in-law attended the rally today. Amazing, why? Because people are so fed up with the UK, they’re trying anything to make a change. If you @Keir_Starmer want to know why this event was so popular today, just look in the mirror.

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.

@DaleVince No, he has a massive mandate, which has been revoked by the protest votes across the local elections. The PM is unable to grasp the issues we face, he is incompetent.

I just don’t think there should be a leadership challenge. Keir Starmer has a massive mandate given to him by the British people at the general election. I don’t think anybody in the Cabinet has a right to try to overturn that. I still hope there won’t be a leadership contest. If there is, it’s probable that Keir will stand himself and in which case, I’d be in his camp. What we need now is continuity. We need Labour to deliver on their manifesto. We haven’t even been two years into this government. telegraph.co.uk/gift/d0332ac86…

@CliveEfford You are right Clive. Change does take time, especially if you spend millions on benefits we simply cannot afford, taxing businesses so they don’t grow, enhancing workers rights so businesses think twice about recruiting as not everyone is honest.

You’ll miss Keir Starmer when he’s gone spectator.com/article/youll-… I couldn’t agree more. Change, after 14 years of Tory austerity, is bound to take time before people begin to feel the benefits.

There’s been so many poor decisions made by the government and the Conservatives before them. The UK is massively in debt, we are creating tax and regulations that are forcing businesses to second guess every decision. Benefits spending that’s too high causing our national debt to increase.

There is no magic wand. It took 14 years of Tory mismanagement & chaos to destroy the country and will take time to rebuild & make good. We need calm, intelligent leadership. We need @Keir_Starmer as our PM. #StandWithStarmer

If Farage becomes PM: he will be hostile and dictatorial towards his Cabinet. His Cabinet will be poorly skilled and mostly incompetent so as not present a threat to him. He will make decisions based on his needs and not those of the Country. He will sow hate and mistrust amongst citizens to make them more dependant on him.
