@AndyatAuto @SMMT I’m amazed by the resilience of PHEV sales. I get that it might help people deal with range anxiety, but equally I’m sure I saw a statistic suggesting most PHEV owners rarely plug their car in (at which point it’s less economical than petrol). Is it linked to company car tax?

The @SMMT results for April U.K. car sales are in and break new records. BEV uptake reached a record 26.2% share of registrations in the month. Year to date, BEVs comprise 23.1% of the overall new car market, short of the 33% target but well ahead of the mandate once allowances made for hybrids, etc. April also saw the two millionth battery electric car registered (2,012,758), following bumper growth of 59.1% compared with last year. Consumers are reacting to petrol price hikes and the desire for alternative energy sources.

@LUDENClassics I was at Goodwood last weekend for the MM - and they were demonstrating the new Lanzante 95. I thought it was an electric car as it went around the track so quietly. I think regulations have killed the sound of new cars; one reason why there’s a jump in prices for 355 and 458?

This war is not in my national interest. I cannot yield.” This is America’s closest ally. The country that has followed Washington into every military engagement for 80 years. Starmer already refused the blockade. Called Israel’s bombing of Lebanon wrong from the floor of Parliament. Suspended automatic defense renewals with Israel. And now when Trump threatened the trade relationship — he didn’t move. Britain, Australia, Italy, Meloni — every ally Trump expected to follow him has said no. The blockade has no coalition.

So turns out the “London is collapsing” narrative isn’t grassroots at all. It’s being pumped out by bots, content farms, and foreign-aligned networks then laundered through politicians and media. Manufacture the fear. Repeat it enough. Turn it into policy.

She’s very good at wrong-footing readers. You do push on through the books to find out the solution, which perhaps takes you out of them. How much depth is there to the characters? Do you care about them? I’m not sure. I’d say it’s mid range Christie.
