I wonder what would happen if everyone who had a private school education was barred from becoming an MP ? (Casts line and baited hook) #fishing #Politics

@kelseyhightower No question, I recently came across this as an “aiming high award” - digging in I discovered it was for helping others alongside personal achievement, that’s what I call #teamplay

@NickGibbUK I've seen what purports to be your letter to schools in Waltham Forest, unfortunately looks like Tory govt picking a fight with longstanding Labour council. You didn't get to redraw electoral boundaries in Tory favour so attack them any other way. #ToryCorruption

Unpopular opinion: you need a degree-level education in computer science to be a really good developer. If you have one from a university, great. If not, it's time to start educating yourself. The resources are there; all you need is willpower, effort, and time.

@housecor @franz_prg I think this isn’t limited to programmers (code), I’ve witnessed this as a tendency in process creation and design, I think the trap may be that as we learn more techniques the temptation is to combine more than necessary to get things done.

- 2000 (Pentium III 547 Mhz, 256 MB RAM, HDD): compile and test on Symbian (6?) device a mobile app in a handful of seconds - 2020 (i7 3+ Ghz, 16GB RAM): launch compile, go brew coffee, sip coffee while CPU temp reaches 100 and sound like we're taking off (both iOS and Android)

@allenholub And if your “documentation” is educating people is it still an anti-pattern?

If you have to write down a requirement, you’re collecting it too soon. If you have to explain how the code works, that’s a defect. Documentation is an anti-pattern.

You just know that finance people in every big company are noticing that they’re paying huge sums every month for offices they’re not using and, assuming work’s proceeding OK, are gonna be asking “Why are we paying for these?”

"You are not working from home; you are at your home during a crisis trying to work." I've heard this twice today. I think it's an important distinction worth emphasising.

The more RACI documents I get asked to work on the more I perceive them as a tool to create 'silos' ..

Ok if there is a roaring 20s, Rick Astley is ushering it in. Somehow I feel this an uncertain sign!
