एक पॉलिसी लेने वाली महिला ने बताया कि कैसे हेल्थ इंश्योरेंस वाले धोखाधड़ी कर रहे हैं। इंसान इंश्योरेंस इसलिए लेता है कि बीमारी के वक्त सहारा मिलेगा , लेकिन यहां तो खेल ही उल्टा चल रहा है। भिलाई में महिला अस्पताल में भर्ती है , फिर भी Care Health Insurance की हेल्पलाइन तक नहीं लग रही। क्लेम के लिए बार-बार संपर्क किया जा रहा है, लेकिन कंपनी की तरफ से सिर्फ सन्नाटा। प्रीमियम लेते वक्त सब आसान , लेकिन जरूरत के समय कंपनी गायब क्यों? 👉 @CareHealthIN जवाब दे , ग्राहक की जान से बड़ा आपका प्रोसेस कब से हो गया?

₹50,000 premium. ₹15 lakh coverage. ₹0 peace of mind. India's health insurance system is broken. And no one's fixing it. Let me tell you what happened to my family last week. My wife needed gallbladder surgery. We have HDFC Optima Secure with @HDFCERGOGIC . We've paid premiums for years. We did everything right - got cashless approval, chose a network hospital (@ManipalHealth Whitefield), followed every process. On 26th Dec, I received the settlement letter: "Amount to be paid by insured: ₹0" Surgery happened. It went well. She was recovering. We were ready to go home. The hospital refused to let us leave. Despite holding a valid insurance document that said we owe NOTHING, they wouldn't discharge a recovering patient. My wife sat in that room - tired, in pain, wanting to go home - while I begged at the billing counter. We were only "allowed" to leave after I blocked ₹X,XX,XXX on my credit card. A patient. Held hostage. In a hospital. In India. In 2025. Then on 30th Dec, magically, a new settlement letter appeared: "Amount to be paid by insured: ₹X,XX,XXX" Same surgery. Same bills. Same everything. But now I suddenly owe lakhs. Here's how the trick works: The hospital bills ₹5.8L. The insurance company says "we have an MOU with the hospital, agreed package rate is ₹1.9L." So they settle for ₹1.9L. The remaining ₹3.9L? "Patient to pay." But wait - the MOU is between the hospital and insurance company. The "agreed package rate" is THEIR agreement. Why is the patient paying the difference for a deal they negotiated? The letter was updated AFTER we left. The hospital and insurance company sorted it out between themselves. The patient? Just a pawn in the middle. Both letters say: "No amount to be collected from insured" Their own words. Their own document. Exposed for what it is - meaningless paper. This is not a one-off incident. This is the system working exactly as designed: → Insurance companies collect premiums for years, then find ways to deny or reduce claims → Hospitals inflate bills knowing insurance will negotiate down, and patients will pay the difference → Patients are trapped between the two - too exhausted to fight, too scared to refuse → IRDAI exists but is reactive, not preventive - they'll act after you file a complaint, not before you're harassed Where is the protection for patients? Where are the regulations that say a hospital CANNOT hold a patient hostage for payment disputes? Where is the accountability when an insurance company issues two contradictory letters and expects the customer to just figure it out? We pay GST on premiums. We pay taxes. We fund the regulators. And when we need help, we're left standing at a billing counter, blocking credit cards to take our family home. I've filed a complaint with @IRDAI_official. I have every document. I'll fight this. This is not customer service failure. This is systemic exploitation. @HDFCERGO - honor your own document. 🚨 UPDATE | SOME GOOD NEWS After my earlier post, I received a call from @careinsuranceIN. On the call, the team refused to share a premium breakup citing company policy. However, I already had last year’s breakup, so I asked one simple question: 👉 What is the premium hike this year? They mentioned a 13–15% increase. I reverse-calculated the numbers and noticed a ₹23,000 gap between the expected premium post-hike and the quoted amount. When asked to justify this difference, they admitted that a major portion was charged for an Add-On (Reduction in PED waiting period) which was not required in my case. Why? ✔️ I’ve already completed 3 years with CARE ✔️ As per IRDAI rules, 3 years is the maximum PED waiting period Yet, this add-on was still applied for another year. 🚩 When questioned, the response was: 🛠️ “It’s a technical glitch.” They agreed to issue a revised payment link. 📉 Premium revised from ₹86,000 to ₹63,000 💰 Savings approx ₹23,000 I track the insurance space closely, so I could catch this. But a regular customer would have paid ₹86k without realising it. I’ve also suggested CARE to include a detailed premium breakup in renewal notices to improve transparency and trust. They’ve taken the feedback. 🔑 Key Takeaways 1️⃣ Know your policy inside out. Don’t blindly rely on agents. 2️⃣ Check renewals carefully. Remove add-ons you no longer need. 3️⃣ Escalate when needed. Social media works best. X got me the resolution when emails and WhatsApp didn’t. 4️⃣ Have individual health insurance. Medical inflation isn’t slowing down. 5️⃣ Follow handles like @BeshakIN for real insurance case studies and awareness. That’s it. Never seen a shady practice in insurance like @careinsuranceIN Last year: ₹88,114 (inc. ₹13k GST + ₹21k add-ons) - Image attached below. This year’s quote: ₹86,462. Sounds like a "drop," right? WRONG. ❌ GST is now exempt and my PED add-on is not needed as I have completed 3 years with CARE. My premium should have dropped by ₹30k+. Instead, they hiked the base price so high it swallowed the entire saving. The worst part? They REFUSE to provide a breakdown until I pay the premium. Since when is "Pay first, see the bill later" a business model? They don’t "CARE." They just want to see how much they can fleece you for. PS: I do understand that insurance companies can hike premiums. But their inability to share a breakdown due to lack of transparency is suspicious. CC: @GST_Council @FinMinIndia

We have been hearing the same response for the last 6 months, but the issue remains unresolved till date. Kindly clarify what exactly you will review now, which you could not resolve in the last six months. Please note that I have already served a legal notice regarding this matter. If a satisfactory and time-bound resolution is not provided immediately, I will proceed to register the case before the competent court without any further notice. Until the matter is resolved, I will continue to share my experience daily across all social media platforms to make other consumers aware. Looking forward to a final written resolution, not generic responses.
