“Can’t afford to live” is doing all the work here. It jumps straight from “this job doesn’t fund my preferred lifestyle” to “exploitation” with no argument in between. Wages reflect value created, not a moral guarantee of comfort. If it’s not enough, you change the terms, not redefine reality. Calling it exploitation is a label used to skip the reasoning.

If you can work 40 hours a week and still not afford to live, that’s not a job that’s exploitation.

Single payer isn’t “the answer,” it’s the removal of the only mechanism that corrects failure. Competition is what forces insurers and providers to improve, cut costs, and respond to patients. Eliminate it, and you don’t get efficiency you get a captive system with no incentive to perform and no penalty for failure. And the irony is hard to miss: The same people who rail against “corporate monopolies” are advocating for the largest, least accountable monopoly possible one you’re forced to use, forced to fund, and can’t opt out of. At least with private failure, you can walk away. With government failure, you’re trapped in it.

What you’re describing isn’t incentive, it’s an assumption. In reality, delays usually come from coverage disputes, verification, and cost control, not some calculated plan to “wait for death.”

I think some people are missing the point. It's not even simply that "person dies not getting care = murder" Some insurance companies and their leadership have a deliberate strategy to simply not pay for care, under the calculation that they can wait until the patient dies, and thus not have to pay. This deliberate strategy IS social murder.
