2026 feels like an inflection point for agents. The thesis that agents can do real, meaningful work for users has largely been validated. The hard part is turning that into consistent enterprise value. I expect much of the work this year to be around reliability, scalability, observability, and developing agent architectures in an eval-driven way. I tend to group this under what I call “Agent Foundations,” and I’m increasingly convinced that getting this right will be make-or-break for most teams trying to build enterprise-grade agents. I’d love to hear from others who are thinking seriously about these problems. What’s hard, what’s working, and what patterns are starting to emerge?
