Great effort! I DNFed my first 100 and had not made it as far as you did (50 miles). Took me several years to get the nerve to try again and then made it. I think the DNF in a 100 is healthy - it helps you realize and learn so may important things including not being fearful to try again! You’ve got this!

First ever 100 mile race. First DNF. Prepared well, put the time in and it just wasn’t meant to be…this time. It was so fun to get to lace em up with my coach, @mikeddonatelli , and then watch him absolutely crush the race!! Still proud to have made it 100k. Onto the next!

@GamewithDave Dangerous dave. Not sure why it stuck with me - maybe the warp zones on certain levels? I had it on a monochrome monitor - orange and black

@Michaelfiore Congrats and you are a real runner so revel in it! Don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you are not. One foot in front of another and keep going! You are doing great!

I know this isn’t impressive for real runners, but it’s a milestone for me. First time finishing a 5k under 30 minutes. I started running 8 months ago. I’m 37 and weigh 200 currently.

@danielcberk I’m interested. Running the Garmin Durham marathon in May. Been running for 20 years and running distances up to 100 miles and over 70 marathons and ultras. Would love this!

I want to start a group chat for runners. 32 people max. Two reqs: 1. You need to have an iPhone (sorry green bubbles) 2. You need to be a runner. You don’t need to be elite. You just need to be committed. We’ll make each other stronger, faster, better. Who wants in?

@ajoneswilkins Here's my question. How many people took that turn to finish in 18 miles? I think it was stupid too, but it would be interesting if the yack from the internet gave people "more" motivation to finish the full marathon.

Another runner taking the Kudos for a “rapid” long run but will be nowhere near it on race day 🤦‍♂️ Probably won’t break 4:30 (which is still a great time) but stop cheating yourself Some people just won’t have a “slow pace” on their Strava 🤷‍♂️

🚨 DELTA OFFERED PASSENGERS $6,000 TO GET OFF A FLIGHT — AND NOBODY TOOK IT A woman filming at the gate says Delta started asking for volunteers because the flight was overbooked. First they offered $800. Then $1,500. Then $3,000. The number kept climbing… until it hit $6,000 per passenger just to take a later flight. And somehow not a single person stood up. How important was this flight that people turned down SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS?

@HustleBitch_ I guarantee you it wasn’t $6,000 cash. Probably $6,000 in redeemable flights for a 30 day period only in economy, some bs like that.

Exclusive: American Nathan Martin, a 36-year-old high school cross county coach from Jackson, Michigan, is the personification of never giving up. He won the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon in 2:11:16.50, capturing the title in the final stride of the 26.2 mile race Sunday.

This is an affront to the sport of marathoning. A marathon is a set distance - 26.2 miles. Not 18. If you have to drop because of the heat or any other reason, good for you making a smart decision for you - but you don’t deserve a medal. Get better and heal up and get out there again. Also, this is a terrible look for the city that is hosting the next Olympic Marathon.

Participants in the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon have the option to only run 18 miles—and still receive a finisher medal, race officials announced this week. runnersworldmag.visitlink.me/aUXStO

Ridiculous. I got the stomach flu one year in the Dubai marathon and could have just gone 1/2 mile after mile 18 to get to the finish an quit. But I wouldn’t have earned my medal I promised my son so I suffered through and finished. Medals means something in the marathon - well, not for the LA Marathon this year.

I appreciate the folks at LAM for trying to keep all their runners safe and encouraging them to make wise decisions on race day (forecasted for low 80s F as the high)... ...but to still receive a medal even if they drop early at mile 18?? C'mon now.
