PSA.. it's not a good idea for long term health to use displays that utilise PWM/have flickering backlights. Since March, I have been using a Samsung 42" TV (Q60R) as my main display for work, gaming, everything really. It uses PWM (so it's not flicker free). (1/8)

@sid_raina @SpaceTechUs Just because it's never happened before, that doesn't mean Fancode couldn't be culpable. The fact that other feeds didn't have this issue makes it likely it's a Fancode specific issue, whether the fault is with the supplier or Fancode themselves.

@sid_raina @SpaceTechUs That being said, I'm pretty sure yesterday's incident is a one off, because I've not heard about issues with Fancode before, I have multiple friends watching via Fancode and tuning in for all the races, so I wouldn't worry about it. I still use F1TV cause 4K and Multiviewer.

Selling $1500 computers with 8GB memory in 2022 should be a criminal offense. If the typical influential Mac reviewer wasn't so technologically inept and had raised a stink about this two years ago when the M1 released, maybe we'd have 16GB Macs by now.

I know I sound old, but I wish Gen Z had experienced forums. Instead of endless hate-posting, they were full of fun debates about season finales, canon insights and shared perspectives. They wre basically Fan Clubs built on appreciation, instead of engagement farming. If modern Twitter is a hater-fest, forums were a fun sanctuary.

So the Pao is another one of those foods that we took from others and made ours. The Portuguese loved crusted bread but did not have yeast in India. Local goans figured they could use toddy to recreate the rise and the Poi was born. As Goans moved to the city on Bombay, they brought their beloved poi here and the burgeoning textile mills town went crazy with the high carb ingredient that kept well and did not need cooking. It is here that Bombay picked up Goan term Pao from these folks and the slightly derogatory slang "maka-pao" became attached to goan folks. Because everyone gets hazed in this city. And look what we have done with this simple bread. Pav Bhaji is an exceptional culinary innovation and a moment of respect for Ashok Vaidya who married the bata vada to the pao creating the vada pav.

Microsoft has set a goal to “eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030.” What are they going to try to replace that C & C++ code with? You guessed it. Rust. And they’re going to use AI to do the “Rust re-write” at an insane speed. “Our strategy is to combine AI *and* Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft’s largest codebases. Our North Star is “1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code”. You read that right. One million lines of code, per engineer, per month. Pure insanity. This kind of decision making is common among those with a deeply held, delusional faith in the Cult of Rust. Take battle tested code, and re-write it (without a clear benefit to the end user) at a recklessly rapid rate. Then force others to adopt that rewritten code before it is ready or properly tested. All while holding a delusional belief that your new Rust code is superior in all ways, and is inherently bug free thanks to the divine nature of Rust. A frustrated municipality finally installed the speed breaker early this morning and immediately informed me. Anker might be the best brand turnaround story nobody talks about. 2011: Cheap Chinese battery seller on Amazon. Looked like every other Alibaba dropshipper and everyone made fun of you for owning one. 2025: Competing with Apple/Belkin, exceptional design, pioneering GaN charging tech. All my power banks, bricks and cables are from Anker. They made 60% of their team R&D instead of just outsourcing everything and actually listened to customer feedback. Basically proved you can build a trusted & high quality hardware brand from a "generic Chinese knockoff". Wild that more companies haven't really copied this playbook.

Maharashtra | Aadhaar card will not be considered as a document for making a delayed birth certificate in the state and all birth certificates made only through the Aadhaar card after August 2023 amendment in Act will be cancelled. The government has taken this decision to stop fake birth certificates and death certificates being used for illegal purposes. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has ordered the cancellation of all suspicious certificates issued using Aadhaar cards. Along with this, instructions have been given to take action against the officers who have issued these certificates till now. The Revenue Department has issued a 16-point verification guideline to all Tehsildars, Sub-Divisional Officers, District Commissioners, and Divisional Commissioners.

@championswimmer Better to go with the DXP4800, Intel's QuickSync will do a much better job of transcoding content. Software support will be better as well, if you want to run additional software on this or switch to TrueNAS. I wouldn't be surprised if Ugreen photos used Immich as its base.
