CC delinquency spiked after covid settled down and that is when the bulk of increase came in, but it shot up to around 2010 highs. The numbers are somewhat flat MoM for the past year. COVID data is impossible to do 1:1 historical comparisons.

Doesn't mean im further in debt necessarily although it could. Again, factoring in delinquency rates will help paint a more accurate picture.

Those who use credit cards (I once did when I didn't have cash) are doing what I did. Not enough cash, borrowing now to pay tomorrow. How is that an indicator of a thriving economy rather that a debt-based one?

High CC spending can indicate consumer confidence and demand as well as higher debt and cost of goods. CC spending will never be back to pre 2020 with the inflation % of the last 5 years.
