@AFpost She’s more qualified than most critics think. Yes, her ATP’s fresh (1/25), but it’s not an easy cert to earn—1,500 hours is a lot. She also graduated from UND (12/22), a top Part 141 flight school, no easy feat. Her skills are there, and she fucked up bad but def not a DEI hire.

The pilot responsible for crashing a Delta plane upside down at the Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17, 2025, has been identified as 26-year-old First Officer Kendal Swanson. A beauty pageant winner from Minnesota, Swanson had only completed her training in April and had logged fewer than 1,500 flight hours at the time of the incident. The more experienced captain, James Henneman, was managing communications during the crash while Swanson piloted. Follow: @AFpost

@bethanyjbabcock @CodeMonkeyReadr The 10R80 should be 7-10k to replace, depending if you go dealership or independent. I have the same transmission in my truck. The CDF drum is the usual culprit. There are kits to beef that part up, and prevent it from being an issue. Easier than dropping the whole thing!

That’s what we are considering but husband says without a lift he can’t do the replacement. He’s done it on other cars but this one he feels is too much for him. Our friends did the repair and it was $15k. Seems like a lot for cars that are already over 150k miles. If it were guarajteeed to take us to 300k, I’d do it. But one friend replaced the transmission and then the engine blew out 😔

We are typically the buy it and run it till the wheels fall off kind of people but we might have made a mistake with our last vehicle purchase. Several of our friends were all in the same spot a few years ago and after we all researched we all ended up buying new (to us) Ford Expeditions. Now that we are all over the 150K mile marker, ALL of my friends are having transmission and engine problems. They are all telling me to sell it and get something new. I was thinking I was lucky but my husband who is quite handy, is now sounding the alarm and fears I am not the exception. Problem is, I don't know what to get and I have no time to research. I need a three row SUV that will last. To me that means a decade or more not 5-7 years. What ideas do you have for me?

I'm not a pilot but I have to imagine that you have to be an absolute BADASS to skim the water in what is basically a flying tank, over and over all day long, and do it with the accuracy it takes to scoop up 1,000+ gallons of water and not have an accident. My hat is off to these pilots!!

At 8pm my family of 6 is hopping on a nonstop flight from DFW to LAX. We’re then taking an Amtrak sleeper train up the coast to Seattle. The craziest part? This one Christmas present below cost almost 2x what we paid for the 6 flights + 2 checked bags! 🤯 Merry Christmas!
