#Gaza, Occupied Palestinian Territory: 🚨 On 27 December 2024, Israeli forces arbitrarily detained human rights defender Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. This happened after the Israeli army invaded the hospital and ordered the evacuation of all its departments. His whereabouts are unknown and there are deep concerns about his possible inhumane treatment in detention. The Israeli authorities must immediately reveal Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya's whereabouts and release him along with other detained Palestinian healthworkers and human rights defenders. 🚨 We strongly condemn the murder of Tsotsil indigenous priest and human rights defender #PadreMarceloPérez, who was killed after observing mass on the morning of 20 October 2024 by two men who approached him on a motorcycle. We demand that authorities at all levels immediately investigate the murder of Father Marcelo and ensure accountability for his death.

I am deeply concerned that human rights defender @SammiBaluch was prevented from travelling this week. For now, she can't leave Pakistan. I call on the authorities to ensure she is able to travel freely and without fear of reprisal, particularly when engaging with UN actors.
