The reported statement attributed to President Bio during the commissioning of the SLPP party office in Mattru, suggesting death to citizens based on their support for the opposition APC is profoundly disturbing and deeply unfortunate. Such remarks must be unequivocally condemned
@Keketoma_Sandi Did you mean your illegitimate President Julius Maada Bio, who didn't win the 2023 multi tier elections? Are you concerned about the erosion of democracy in Sierra Leone and the heightened tensions following the stolen elections? @USEmbFreetown@EUinSierraLeone@UN_UNOWAS
Quote Me…
“A steady government listens to every voice but is not shaken by the noise of opposition. Our President remains guided by clarity rather than distraction, moving forward with calm determination and a sincere commitment to the good of all.”

I have arrived in Vienna, Austria to take part in the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum, where I will deliver an address on Mission 300 and powering Africa.
I look forward to meaningful engagement as we connect energy access, industrialization, just transition, and stability.
Today, I opened our new Party office in Mattru Jong! The Sierra Leone People's Party stands out as the only party with a clear vision and a strong path to transform Sierra Leone.
We are on an unstoppable journey, building on the incredible progress we've made over the years. It fills me with pride to see the Mattru Jong office complete, a project started by my late friend Moses Jude Probyn.
We had an incredible prize giving and speech day at the Festus Seiwoh Amphitheater in Bo! The Bo School transforms boys into exceptional leaders, and I am immensely proud to be a Bo School boy. Our school is the true solution to transforming Sierra Leone. Let's celebrate our achievements and show the world that when we do it, the Bo School does it right.
To my Ngors, Kotors, and Small Boys, it's OBBA—let’s show them how it's done!
I am honored and deeply grateful to the UN Secretary General António Guterres for appointing me as one of the 8 eminent persons globally on zero waste. Together, we must act boldly to protect our planet and secure a sustainable future for generations to come. #ZeroWaste#UN
@Keketoma_Sandi Tell President Maada Bio to fix the political stalemate in Sierra Leone before embarking on international trips.
The appointment of Edmond Sylvester Alpha as the Country new Chief Electoral Commissioner is a recipe for disaster and chaos.

I have arrived in Miami, United States of America, to participate in the 4th FII PRIORITY Summit, held under the theme “Capital in Motion” and organised by the Future Investment Initiative Institute.
As the Summit brings together thought leaders, investors, and policymakers, I look forward to contributing my perspectives on how African leaders can harness strategic investments in agriculture and education.
As I depart Sierra Leone to honor this invitation, it is with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility that I accept the opportunity to join the Global Coalition Summit, Fostering the Future Together, at the White House, Washington DC.
I am profoundly pleased to stand as a voice for Africa—representing not only our continent, but the millions of children whose futures depend on the choices we make today. In an increasingly digital world, the safety, dignity, and well-being of our children must remain at the center of global priorities.
As Africa continues to embrace technology as a tool for education, innovation, and opportunity, we must also confront the growing risks within the digital space. Our children are navigating environments that can both empower and endanger them. It is therefore our collective duty—as leaders, policymakers, and advocates—to ensure that the digital world becomes a safe, inclusive, and responsible space for every child.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to First Lady Melania Trump for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as the African voice within this important coalition. This gesture reflects a shared commitment to global partnership and the protection of our children.
As I rally my fellow First Ladies across Africa to support this initiative, I look forward to working closely with First Lady Melania Trump and other First Spouses around the world to advance this critical agenda. Together, we can build a united front that prioritizes the safety and well-being of children everywhere.
I join this coalition with a firm commitment to advocate for stronger protections, ethical digital practices, and collaborative global frameworks that place child safety at the forefront. Africa’s voice is essential in shaping these conversations, as our continent is home to one of the youngest and fastest-growing populations in the world.
Together, we must build systems that educate, protect, and empower our children—ensuring they are not only consumers of technology, but safe, informed, and responsible digital citizens.
This is not just a moment of participation—it is a moment of purpose. For the children of Africa, and for children everywhere, we must act with urgency, unity, and unwavering resolve.
I look forward to contributing meaningfully to this coalition and to working alongside global partners to secure a safer digital future for all.

APC holds Press Conference to address the nation on current state of affairs and reaffirms its position on boycotting governance and the fundamental reasons therein!! Stay tuned!
I’m pleased to share that I will be appearing live on CNN on The Lead with Jake Tapper, hosted by Jake Tapper, where I will be speaking about my continued global advocacy to end child marriage and promote the protection and education of girls.
Following my recent engagement at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in New York City, I look forward to further amplifying the voice of Sierra Leone and strengthening our collective commitment to ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive free from child marriage, on such a global platform.

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio Presides Over Swearing-in of New Chief Electoral Commissioner, Reaffirms Commitment to Constitutionalism and Electoral Independence
State House, Freetown, Tuesday 3 March 2026 - His Excellency President Dr, Julius Maada Bio has presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Mr Edmond Sylvester Alpha, following his approval by Parliament.
Declaring the purpose of the ceremony, the Secretary to the President, Baba Brima Fortune, informed the gathering that in line with Section 32(3) of the 1991 Constitution, President Bio directed consultations with the leadership of all registered political parties prior to the appointment. He disclosed that on 10 February 2026, 14 registered political parties were formally notified, with 12 parties submitting letters of approval of Mr Alpha’s appointment.
Mr. Fortune further confirmed that the nominee underwent parliamentary scrutiny and was duly approved, paving the way for the swearing-in before the President, as prescribed by the Constitution.
After taking the oath of office to faithfully discharge his duties and uphold the Constitution, Mr Alpha expressed profound gratitude to President Bio for the confidence reposed in him. Describing his appointment as “a sacred contract with the people of Sierra Leone,” he pledged to serve with independence, transparency, integrity, and inclusiveness.
“Our democracy thrives on the belief that every voice matters and every vote counts,” Mr Alpha said, assuring citizens and political stakeholders that his leadership at ECSL would be guided strictly by the Constitution and the legal frameworks governing elections. He also committed to an open-door policy, constructive engagement, and objective dialogue with political parties and stakeholders.
President Bio, in his congratulatory remarks, stated that he exercised his constitutional authority in making the appointment, noting that unlike previous instances he witnessed while in opposition, he fully complied with the consultative requirements of the Constitution. He described the role of Chief Electoral Commissioner as a weighty national responsibility and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the independence of the ECSL.
“This is not a mere appointment; it is a great responsibility,” the President said, urging the new Chairman and Commissioners to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication to the democratic ideals of the nation.
The President also reflected on key democratic reforms undertaken by his administration, including the repeal of Part Five of the Public Order Act and the abolition of the death penalty, reiterating his call for continuous national dialogue as the cornerstone of a thriving democracy.
