Yet, very few people save, invest or quit sea successfully. Most of them depend on the salary. These are the risks of being in a salaried job. You are at the whims and fancies of employer !

🧐 since tanker freight rates has rocketed due to war.. somewhere 400 k/day. Bunker prices up, war risk insurance premium up > 300% So why seafarers only get double the basic wages.Maybe 400$ for a master rank .. why not share of the profit ,after all they are risking their life.

@cibeesh Most Japanese nationals sailing it’s a requirement that why Japanese managed vessel are always in top shape.. I have met with Japanese nyk master who was in shore job but mandatory has to sail 6 months once in 2 years …

Suggestion for the maritime industry: Rotate ship management companies Technical / Operations Suptd, 6 months in the office, 6 months on board. Leadership that sails understands reality better, makes safer decisions, and stays connected to seafarers’ lives. ⚓ Stronger ships. Smarter policies. Real empathy.
