"India is overcrowded" is the most successful gaslighting campaign Indian babus ever ran on their own citizens. They underbuilt the country for forty years and convinced 1.4B Indians to blame themselves for it.
Every overcrowded space you've ever queued in is a supply failure the state engineered, not a demographic accident. Five lifts in a hospital, one working. Seven railway counters, one ticketer. Toll plazas, water boards, municipal offices: built once in 1972, patched once in 1996, abandoned ever since. The only exception is airports, and even those lounges are gigafried at peak.
Why did this happen? 4 reasons, none of them are "too many people."
1. Cost of capital. Rupee down 60% against the dollar in two decades. Inflation 5-7% on paper, 8-10% in reality. Risk-free rates above 7%. No rational allocator underwrites a hospital with a 30-year payback under those conditions. Capital flows into software and consumer brands; anything with a 3-5 year ROI window. Parks, ports, metros, dams, schools need multi-decade underwriting that India's macro structurally cannot support.
2. The regulatory stack is engineered to prevent construction. 50+ clearances across municipal, state, and central bodies for any large project, each with its IAS gatekeeper extracting rent. Real builders give up. The only construction happening at scale is therefore illegal, which is exactly why slums mushroom while sanctioned housing projects sit at 15% completion for a decade.
3. The corruption tax. Budget 15-20% of project cost in bakshish before pouring a single slab. Stacked on top of GST, stamp duty, capital gains, property tax, labour cess. Software shops escape it; they ship from a laptop. Anyone touching cement, steel, or land pays the surcharge in cash, off the books, with zero recourse and zero deductibility.
4. State capacity has collapsed into pure friction. GST portal crashes on filing deadlines. MCA21 is a relic. Every regulator (SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, FSSAI, BIS) optimises for CYA, never throughput. Babus paid 1990s salaries to administer 2026 complexity respond rationally by doing nothing.
India's perpetual undercapacity is a capital allocation story the political class would rather you never learn. The 1.4B is a feature. The people running the country are the bug. Until cost of capital drops, the regulatory fat gets gutted, and the corruption surcharge gets squeezed out, the lifts and the counters and the hospitals will stay exactly as broken as they were when your grandfather first complained about them in 1987.

Every single place in India is just so overcrowded. - Want to go to a park? Hundreds are already there, not enough space. - Want to go to a temple? You won’t even get five minutes of peace. - Want to visit a hill station? Not a single hotel is available. - Same with Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and everywhere else. It feels like the calmest place is your own house.

@tushar9590 Not until the range anxiety is addressed -
1) develop charging infrastructure
2) faster charging
3) longer battery range

@DeepikaBhardwaj The judicial system lives in its own ivory palace, totally detatched from the ground realities.
Sadly, govt has not shown any strong will to bring in reforms here.
English

Delhi High Court has sentenced a man Gulshan Pahuja to 6 months in Jail for contempt of court taking suo moto cognizance of the case
This man has been fighting for judicial reforms for more than a decade
He demanded video recordings of court proceedings to ensure transparency
He said he has lost faith in Judiciary and does not expect any Justice
He refused to apologise when asked and hence he's being sent to Jail
In a country where crores of people have lost faith in Justice, it is a common saying ki "Bhagwaan police ya kachehri ke chakkar na katvaye" sending a man to jail for 6 months is actually proving what Mr. Pahuja said - TAANASHAAHI
Koi bhi khilafat nahi kar sakta nahi to jail mein daal denge
This is just so saddening. I hope he gets relief in the Supreme Court

"Modi has not done a single press conference in 12 years."
So what?
Not taking questions from the press is not some moral crime in itself. The media is not a council of high priests conducting a legitimacy exam that every Prime Minister must clear for democratic certification.
In a democracy, legitimacy comes from public mandate and governance, not from standing before cameras to satisfy a section of the media that mistakes access for accountability.
As such, today's media ecosystem is not some sacred, neutral institution operating above politics. Much of it is deeply polarized. Different political camps have their favorite journalists, narratives, and ecosystems. Questions are designed less to seek answers and more to manufacture headlines, extract viral moments, or build personal brands.
And those who hold frequent press conferences are not automatically standing on higher moral ground either. We have all seen planted easy questions from pliable journalists and difficult questions brushed aside with “aap rival party ki bhasha mat boliye,” deflections, or outright evasions.
The number of press conferences a leader does is not a certificate of transparency. Otherwise, by that logic, Trump, who interacts with the press almost daily, should automatically be considered the most transparent, most democratic, and the finest leader in the world.

@SushilS27538625 Respect = when people talk good about you.
It has nothing to do with title, money, power, fame.
English

When a prominent man comes
around - a minister or a governor-have you noticed how everybody salutes him? You call that respect, don't you? But such respect is phony, because behind it there is fear and greed. You want something out of the poor devil, so you put a garland around his neck. That is not respect; it is merely the coin with which you buy and sell in the market.
You don't feel respect for your servant or the villager, but only for those from whom you hope to get something. That kind of respect is really fear; it is not respect at all, it has no meaning. But if you really have love in your heart, then to you the governor, the teacher, your servant, and the villager are all the same; then you have respect, a feeling for them all, because love does not ask anything in return.

@thekiranbedi Decades later ...
Son / Daughter : why did you give birth to me in this country ?
Mother : because i was greedy for 30k, 40k that was being offered
English

If a State encourages women to have more children through financial incentives to offset declining population, an important question arises:
Can motherhood be policy-driven? Or should having children remain a deeply personal decision — rooted in desire, readiness, and choice, especially for women whose bodies and lives bear the greatest impact?
Think about it…
(Just saw the program on the @ndtv debate hence the question) @ncbn

@Vivek_Investor @grok @IndianTechGuide Interesting !
So who is making all these margins in between ?
Gold refiners ?
I doubt retailers have huge margins..
English

@IndianTechGuide Hey @grok how much cost is required to produce 1 kg of gold?
English

@jasveer10 One of the most idiotic post i ever seen !
So u want people who pay more to keep waiting while people who pay less get their seats first ?
Maybe airbus and boeing can consult you about how to design the ingress/egress of airplanes !
English

Airports are one of the few places where hierarchy gets publicly announced on a microphone 😄
‘Business class passengers may board first’
Translation my brain hears: ‘People with more money and status, please come first. Everyone else wait’ 😂
And the funny part is, it’s not even about the 5 extra minutes of boarding.
Humans are extremely sensitive to social ordering. Who gets called first, who gets priority, who waits, who stands in line.
The brain is not reacting to the seat. It’s reacting to public ranking.
And the real psychology starts after entering the aircraft.
Economy passengers are deliberately made to walk through business class first. It’s basically a live social hierarchy parade.
Airlines intentionally design that moment. You first see people lying flat with juice glasses while you continue walking deeper and deeper into the aircraft.
Then suddenly a curtain appears like a symbolic border.

@DeepikaBhardwaj @pranavpradhi1 Somehow...
If a woman says it - it must be ALWAYS true
If a man says it - if must be ALWAYS doubted !
English

Pranav the case was projected as she being kidnapped by these two, questions on safety raised, it being compared to Nirbhaya. No man has a right to force himself on any woman even if she is a sex worker. If they did, they have to be tried for rape. But she didn't go for medical. It is now a case of he said she said as to what happened in the bus. As per a journalist it is one of the men who called cops.
English

Media went crazy on so called Nirbhaya alike gangrape case three days back in Delhi. Protests also organized immediately. TV debates started.
But the moment it came out that the case was false, the woman herself went with these men to provide paid sex & fight happened over payment of money - everyone has gone mute.
No outrage on how easy it has become now for some women to falsely claim something as heinous as gangrape
No information yet by @DelhiPolice also if they are planning to take any action against this woman
This is the reason false accusations have become so rampant

@drsunita02 Once at airport immigration counter - a mullah with 2 wives and 5 kids.. tells his 2 wives and 3 kids (the other 2 kids were too small) to go and occupy all the queues and ask to go first !
I made a ruckus and called the duty police personnel!
English

We Indians should learn how to stand in queues for our turn.
Went to Max to buy clothes for Teen 2. I am standing in the queue to pay and 2 separate sets of educated people came and stood in front of me to go to the counter🙄.
Arrey baba, wait for your turn, no? Why cut lanes here too?
#Civicsense
English

@drsunita02 Its the same at tolls .. cars come across and cut through by waving hands..sometimes 1 person gets down and even stops the vehicle in the proper queue.
Entitled attitude of Indians !!

@pvsubramanyam @MamataOfficial She wants others to listen to courts..
She herself wont listen to courts
English

@MamataOfficial goes to court when she wants justice for herself.
She does not listen to the courts when the court orders her to pay the DA, to remove people who have bribed their way into gov jobs, to give land to BSF,........
Amusing is it not?
English

@sardesairajdeep Why is this media cockroach getting triggered now ?
U must be happy atleast CJI called you "young"
English

Youngsters/RTI activists who raise their voice, ask hard questions, expose systemic flaws are ‘cockroaches’?? Really your Lordship?? Is this what we have come to in our ‘democracy’? REALLY? Wonder what the likes of Justice Krishna Iyer would have to say. 😡
Live Law@LiveLawIndia
CJI Surya Kant says there are "parasites" attacking the system. "There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don't get any employment and don't have any place in the profession. Some of them become media, some of them become social media, some of them become RTI activists, some of them become other activists, and they start attacking everyone." - CJI.

@ShefVaidya @vinodkapri @narendramodi @HQ_IDS_India @DefenceMinIndia @rajnathsingh Koi shatrubodh nahi..
Koi self respecr nahi
Indonesia

Btw, this @vinodkapri person made an out and out propaganda film during Covid on the ‘migration of workers’, blaming @narendramodi govt for everything. And yet, and yet, @HQ_IDS_India and @DefenceMinIndia chose HIM to make a movie on Op Sindoor, @rajnathsingh tweeted it from his handle, so did @BJP4India and Kapri was boasting about how Gen Anil Chauhan himself ‘encouraged him’. Talk about Shatrubodh! Next @adgpi will get Asim Muneer to make a movie on Op Sindoor. But if we speak against this, somehow, WE are the bad guys!
