@sajkooler @khewage1 For 48 years we had the ධර්මිෂ්ඨ genocidal dictator JR, the bloodthirsty අතේ පිරිත් නූල බොක්කේ මිනීමස් ප්‍රේමදාස, the thieving genocidal Rajapaksha clan, puppet Sirisena & පින් ජනාධිපති @RW_SRILANKA. Yes, of course only the JVP was not afraid of these low lifers.

Well done to a government for finally standing up to the GMOA!
NewsWire 🇱🇰@NewsWireLK

Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa today said the Government will not proceed with the meeting scheduled for today with the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA), following the union’s decision to launch a 48-hour strike. Speaking in Parliament, Minister Jayatissa said he had agreed on Sunday to hold discussions with the GMOA today on other issues, but not on the appointments of newly qualified doctors. He stressed that the law clearly states that trade unions have no role in decisions related to the appointments of newly qualified doctors who have completed their internship training. However, the Minister acknowledged that trade unions do have a role when it comes to mid-career transfers, noting that such matters are traditionally discussed with unions. He said the current issue, however, concerns new appointments and not transfers, and therefore does not fall within the GMOA’s scope. Minister Jayatissa further said the Government decided not to proceed with the meeting after the GMOA declared what he described as an “unfair” 48-hour strike over the matter. He also noted that 96% of newly qualified doctors had rejected the GMOA’s directive and joined the service. The Minister urged the new doctors to continue reporting to work without fear, assuring that police protection and public support would be provided if necessary. He added that the Government is prepared to face any situation arising from the strike.

Needs a bit of intelligence to understand. They were not MP’s then also this is the NPP not JVP. Also parliamentarians need to be paid so that the tax payers can hold them responsible. If one is not paid fr the job then there’s no obligation to perform or to hold them to account. This will also ensure that MP’s hv a livable wage & do not need commissions from airlines & kick backs frm foreign investment to survive. 🤪

@godfreypy1 @KavithaRatwatte @Kevin57928906 Wonder how much they made from the coal tender scam. Plus how one guy who said his wife told him to get a job because she couldn’t manage with her salary, suddenly built a super luxury 3 storey house within 1 1/2 years of becoming a Minister 🤨

@HarshadeSilvaMP Yahapalanaya killed the economy by 2019, Gota took a already bankrupted country and brought back to growth by 2021 with covid, no tourism, remittance and high oil prices, when it comes to lying this guy only second to pachaya x.com/kmlsamaraweera…

@TwlightThinker @Indooshan By start of 2019, country was in recession, over 3b current account deficit, over 7b annual debt payments with over 55b debt taken without any returns, yes u heard it right! This is all before easter attacks and Covid, only uneducated #ganJeppas would say otherwise !

Yes, Gotabaya destroyed the economy, but 2023 saw key reforms under Ranil (which only the JVP opposed). By 2024, when the JVP took over, Sri Lanka had turned a Rs.500bn OD deficit into an Rs.800bn surplus. Yet this Government broke election promises to cut taxes including VAT on essentials and even further raised taxes on 76 essential items recently. We have the money. Why not help people in crisis? What is government for if not this? (Part 2/2) #SriLanka #HarshaDeSilva
