Here's the challenge for the Democratic Party: Missouri voted for a $15 minimum wage, paid sick leave, and abortion rights & Democrats cannot compete there at all. Why? The answer to that is the road to a comeback.

@MikkiHEL And also, I have to say, spot *ON* in its NYC geography. It's accurate down to the block.

@sajon77 And I mean, I do love a good procedural, and it's got that in spades, too. You really get a feeling of the physical reality these tense situations are taking place in a way that I find very compelling.

@MikkiHEL As someone who lived in NYC for 10 years before finally seeing this movie, I have to say nothing about the city feels different other than the hairstyles, clothes, and cars. I take the Pelham 6 to Grand Central every Friday and I feel like the movie could happen at any moment!

@sajon77 It really encapsulates what I think of "New York City." Obviously, a lot of that is now gone, what with it being 50 years old and all, but a lot of it still remains. But even beyond that, just as a film, it's just so damn rich in character and texture. It's great.

@MikkiHEL It captures what it's like to live here, at least in a broad sense, more than any other movie I've seen.

@BBW_BFF A knockout of a movie! After living here for over a decade (and right near the 6!) I have to say nothing comes as close to just NAILING the texture, attitude, smell, sweat, and grumpy energy of this wild, wonderful, insufferable, infuriating FACT of a city.

@HelenLOHara Also... literally knew an A.I. scientist at MIT who had a picture of Roy Batty on his desktop as his "goal"... presumably because he someday wants his eyeballs squeezed out of his head.

@HelenLOHara This is horrifyingly normal, see rightwing surveillance company Palantir, named after invasive brain thingy that was famously used to turn a good guy evil. :P

Literally the thematic heart of the movie. TLJ makes no sense without it.

@ChronoKatie Rondo is a must-play for its intense goth-rock anime vibes and ability to defeat Dracula with pink fluffy animals. Portrait of Ruin (the middle DS game) is the best Castlevania post-Symphony IMO, and has a much more fun, nerdier witch protagonist than Order.

ChronoKatie - Now Playing Alien Isolation
I chose those first 4 cause I hear they are both some of the best and also some of the easiest. I figure I'll start gently. I've heard Circle of the Moon is insanely hard.

ChronoKatie - Now Playing Alien Isolation
You've seen me blind run through Halo, Resident Evil and Metal Gear, but now... Now I'm finally going to plow through the one I have wanted most of all to get into: Castlevania! I think I'll start with these . Castlevania IV . Bloodlines . Order of Ecclesia . Aria of Sorrow

@MikkiHEL @GailSimone Plot twist: The Predator homeworld is actually a liberal paradise and the only Predators we ever see are the Andrew Tates of the species who've been driven away.

@GailSimone They aren’t hippies, they’re hipsters. They want their hunts artisanal. ”You use cloaking devices and laser cannons? Let me guess, you think Starbucks is great. Well, some of us care about not ruining the trophy. But I’m sure your mass-produced spear’s cool too.”

I wonder if there are any hippie Predators who protest the hunt because it’s cruel to humans.

@VioletGweny I grew up in an Evangelical household and The Witch is the closest thing I've ever seen to approximating that experience.

@MikkiHEL I think it's fair to say Mario64/Ocarina had a sizmic impact on the grammar of 3rd-person 3D in a way few games (maybe Tomb Raider?) did, whereas Doom/Quake had the same outsized impact on 1st-person 3D. The answer depends a lot on where your gaming center of gravity was/is.

”Single-handedly.” Quake came out before the N64, and that’s just one super obvious example. Sure, the Nintendo 64 was a big deal, but 3D gaming was already well established by the time it rolled out. It certainly wasn’t something brand new that the N64 introduced.
Wyrdfall Press@AndrewPMayer

You don't get to justify being a knee-jerk edgelord on the back of something that single-handedly laid the foundations of 3D gaming. I was there. In the industry. Mario 64 was beyond a synergy. It was a true creative vision. The flaws only highlight its genius.

@tomabernathy @RossKneeDeep Not all religions are even morally prescriptive. Even assuming "religion=morality" is blithely asserting some cultures over others.
