Way too much cooking tutorial stuff online is recipe based as opposed to skills based and I think that that’s one reason why a lot of people haven’t developed the ability to cook or feel comfortable in the kitchen

@eroscestlavie_x At the beginning Barry Lewis’ channel was called My Virgin Kitchen where he was self teaching himself how to cook. But he got too good & rebranded.

I’m actually shocked that there isn’t a single YouTuber I can think of whose whole thing is just teaching people incremental basic cooking skills, like someone should’ve definitely claimed that as their niche long ago and gotten famous for it, it seems obvious to me

@LaurenMilberger Cheers also had a great rule of saying each character’s name at least once after the commercial break so if you were new you wouldn’t be lost. Today I can go 15+ minutes into a pilot or new movie & no one said anyone’s name or relation once. Sometimes closed captioning will hint

When I write comedy, I always remember the Cheers rule: don't underestimate your audience, use “ highfalutin” jokes or material, but always follow them up with a “low” joke, then everyone is laughing. Also, I learned way more from sitcoms in the 80s/90 than school 🤣

@joshdub @BitLifeApp @candywriter Most likely automated. When I worked on Wow Wow Wubbzy they tried to promote the Beyoncé episodes on YouTube. 1st her team accidentally copy blocked the ad. Then our own team’s automation copy blocked the ad. Two strikes thanks to ourselves! It got fixed but we lost ad time

Dystopian short story idea: a family hide in a bunker to escape some kind of apocalyptic event. They use an LLM to get updates on what's happening on the surface for decades. But unbeknownst to them the LLM is entirely client-side and hallucinates literally everything.

@clockwork4ng3l Because people like small phones you can bend by sitting on them. It’s the same reason we have no headphone jack & small batteries. Like headphone jacks some phones came with a radio. Some OTA TVs used to come with fm radio too. We now have all our eggs in one data basket
