Updated, switched to GPT 5.4, turned on thinking, it failed to tell me that I have a flight today in my daily briefing (it wasn't on the calendar proper, but was in my email and we had a convo about it) and now, I get this "it's not X, it's Y" bs. UGH this smells so bad

LeBron James is not a fan of Memphis at all. In fact, he wants the Grizzlies to move 200 miles east to Nashville.

@joab121997 @Variety Crazy for social media companies to be found liable for addiction when we allow alcohol and gambling marketing, which are far more addictive and harmful to health

This ruling is absurd. Instead of holding parents responsible for not supervising their children, or the individual for their lack of discipline, they go and sue private companies for "designing addictive products." Social media are voluntary tools! If you don’t like the algorithm, turn off your phone and go back to reading a book or going for a run, like people used to do before. The state shouldn’t interfere to regulate or protect childish adults from their own decisions.

A jury has ordered Meta and Google to pay $3M to a 20-year-old woman who alleged that she became addicted to Instagram and YouTube as a child: • Jurors found the companies liable for product design features that harmed her mental health • The plaintiff, Kaley G.M., testified that the apps replaced her hobbies and contributed to anxiety, depression and body dysmorphia • The case is the first of thousands targeting Big Tech over addiction to reach trial, a “bellwether” to assess how other claims could be resolved • Meta was ordered to pay 70% of the damages, with Google responsible for the remaining 30% variety.com/2026/digital/n…

this makes no sense because intelligent people are using ai and unintelligent people are complaining about it and that implies the ones with brains are the ones that use ai and the ones without brains are the ones that dont

first time I see raw GPT-5.4 reasoning chains they length-penalized it so hard that it doesn't generate grammatically correct sentences anymore it's just skipping a bunch of words

Codex team is busy with pretty much an end to end rethink of how everything works to scale with future model advances and I’m glad we have Codex to help refactor it all or it would take months.
