I thought I knew how to use Google Maps… until I Japa! 🤣 As a JJC (Johnny Just Come), I came with confidence steeze. After all, I was a well-grounded student of Geography back home, and used maps sparingly when I had to. I thought navigation would be easy. Wetin Google Maps use my eyes see eehh! 🥴I passed my destination countless times, ended up in the wrong vicinity, got frustrated, gave up, and booked rides… only for the ride apps to charge me a few dollars, I was clinging on to, to get by in this land, and still drop me on the same street I had already walked past without realizing it was my destination. 🤣 That was when humility entered my personal group chat 😂. I had to abandon pride, slow down, relearn how to read maps properly, understand directions better, and pay attention to measurement in distance to cover, North-South-East-West turns, and how locations are structured here. All the time I goofed, and still goofing, because learning many things in this society is ongoing, I switch to making fun of myself, thinking about them, and talking to people about them, in comic ways😁. Many things to unlearn. Many things to relearn. Many simple life skills to adapt to. Japa go humble you. 😂

Yes, I didn't Japa in my 20s or 30s, and I will never regret doing it now! 💪😍 I may not be an expert in economics, but I want to love Canada 🇨🇦 with the same intensity I love Nigeria. It hasn’t been without its drawbacks, but after 10 months as a PR and 5 months of full-time work in those 10, something small but significant happened. The CRA combined my taxes, earnings (here + last 6months of last year before I left Naija) and sent a tax refund of $270+ to me. My spouse received $370+ after filing hers. Subsequently it will grow, after working for the next 1 full year, all things being equal. To some, that’s nothing. To me, it’s a sign of a system that actually gives back. Where I come from, the system often steals from the people; here, even the smallest amount finds its way home to you. Between that and the grocery rebates, I’ve realized something: there is no greater contentment while away from the motherland than staying grateful and realistic. It feels strange to see people move somewhere and spend all your energy criticizing it. Even if others disagree with these incentives, I see a place where leaders don't just pocket our taxes. I see a country where the currency provides the basics if you work hard and keep developing yourself. A place where "change" and coins still hold value. For what it's worth, thank you Canada. @officialABAT will likely win the 2027 presidential election unless ADC gives @PeterObi ticket and he is FULLY supported by Atiku and northern leaders. GEJ lost in 2015 because of northern conspiracy that enabled rigging in the north for up to 60%. Tinubu will never be rigged by anybody. The only way to win him is through a national outrage against him and the enthusiasm of young people.

A young man was given 15k usd as proof of fund for his jaapa to Finland, a year after he didn't travel, his uncle now requested for thr money so another family member can use it to travel. Can you believe this good for nothing adult played bet with 5k usd and lost it. He didn't even have the decency to tell the owner, he didn't even make effort to find the money since last year.
