Yes. You can't make him more loving. God is immutable. He doesn't change. You want to erase all His acts in the Old Testament to prop Him like as one who didn't kill because you want to show he's so loving.
He was love. He is love. He will be love.
He doesn't change. Attempting to make Him look like He became more loving in the new testament is how you get neomarcionism and hypergrace.
