A man rented a fully furnished apartment for his girlfriend in Lagos out of love. Paid the rent, bought the TV, bed, fridge, curtains… everything. Few months later, he decided to surprise her with an early morning visit. Only for him to open the door and meet another man comfortably sleeping inside the apartment he sponsored. What happened next shocked the entire compound. The boyfriend allegedly became furious, packed out every single thing he bought, disconnected the TV, carried the mattress, removed the standing fan, even took the cooking gas. He then called the landlord and demanded that the balance of the rent be refunded to him immediately since he was the one who paid. Now here is where it gets interesting… Some people are saying he was justified because he spent his hard-earned money on the apartment. But I am saying emotions do not override the law. That lady is an adult and has the legal right to allow anybody sleep in the apartment with her because she is not married to him. The moment the man forcefully entered the apartment, scattered things, carried properties, or intimidated anyone, he may have exposed himself to issues bordering on ass@ult, cr!minal trêspass, intim!dation, or thêft depending on how the incident happened. A relationship does not automatically give ownership rights over another adult. So who do you think is right in this situation?

FG Seeks Fresh $1.25bn World Bank Loan Ahead of 2027 Election The Federal Government is seeking a fresh $1.25bn loan from the World Bank to support economic reforms, job creation, and investment growth. The proposed facility, titled Nigeria Actions for Investment and Jobs Acceleration, is expected to be presented for approval on June 26, 2026, months before the 2027 presidential election. If approved, the loan, estimated at about ₦1.7tn, would become one of the largest World Bank facilities secured under President Bola Tinubu’s administration and could push Nigeria’s total public debt above ₦160tn. According to the World Bank document, the facility is designed “to support the government’s efforts to expand access to finance, digital, and electricity services, and strengthen competitiveness through tax, trade, and agriculture reforms.” The report stated that the loan has reached the “decision meeting stage” of the World Bank approval process, indicating that negotiations and major conditions have largely been concluded ahead of final board approval. “The review did authorise the team to appraise and negotiate,” the document added. Findings showed that the World Bank has approved about $9.35bn in loans and credits for Nigeria between June 2023 and May 2026 across sectors including power, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic reforms. If the latest facility is approved, total World Bank approvals under Tinubu could rise to about $10.6bn. Reacting earlier, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, warned that Nigeria could reject World Bank facilities if approval delays persist. “If approvals take more than six months, the Nigerian Government may no longer honour such arrangements,” he said. The World Bank, however, warned that the programme carries significant risks ahead of the 2027 elections, stating that “political and governance risks are elevated ahead of the 2027 elections, with pressures that could delay or reverse sensitive reforms.”

BEFORE YOU WILL SAY TINUBU WANTS TO BRIBE YOU TO VOTE FOR HIM, UNDERSTAND HIS REASONS. The federal government has invited young Nigerians to apply for a ₦22,500 monthly stipend plus free training. Yes...he knows that some of you will still collect and still not vote for him. He knows. So he's not making this decision to bribe you. Many people are angry about the reforms of the last two years. And honestly, the pain is real. Fuel subsidy removal increased transportation costs. The naira devaluation pushed up prices of food, rent, cars, school fees and almost everything else. But what many people ignore is that reforms without cushioning programs can destroy social stability completely. This is why the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been rolling out multiple intervention programs targeted at young Nigerians, students, households and small businesses. Since 2023: - States received increased FAAC allocations after subsidy removal. - Student loan programs were launched. - Consumer credit initiatives were introduced. - Cash transfer programs expanded skills acquisition and youth empowerment programs increased. - Local government allocations rose significantly after Supreme Court financial autonomy rulings. Now another program is offering ₦22,500 monthly support alongside free training. People underestimate the importance of skills during economic transitions. Countries that survived difficult reforms usually invested heavily in: - Human capital - Entrepreneurship - Vocational training - Youth employment When India liberalized its economy in the 1990s, millions initially struggled. But long-term investments in technology and skills later created one of the world’s biggest middle classes. When Indonesia removed major fuel subsidies, there was hardship too. But the government expanded social intervention programs to reduce the shock. Nigeria is trying to reform an economy that spent decades depending heavily on fuel subsidies, imports and oil revenue while neglecting productivity. That transition was never going to be painless. But the bigger question is: Can Nigeria use this painful period to build a more productive generation? The young people who survive this era may become one of the most economically adaptive generations in Nigeria’s history. This is the mind of the government in rolling out this project. It's not to get you to vote for him but to make you financially stable with monthly cash as skills. Instead of insulting the president, see the vision. While he invests heavily in infrastructure preparing for the $1 trillion economy, he's also preparing the young people to have the skills needed to survive in the economy. Get ready.

The next couple of days will define the future of this nation. This deeper understanding is why I resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as I follow the leadership of, HE Peter Obi, who today embodies the hope and aspiration of a Nigeria that works.     When I give my word, I keep it. My decision to support HE Peter Obi first led me to the ADC. To continue to honour the promise I am joining the NDC.   This time I am joining the NDC not just as a member but as one running for the FCT Senatorial seat.   I have tidied up all my obligations to the ADC, ensuring a clean transition. I was fortunate to work with great and amazing people whose goal was a better country. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as sub‑committee chair, deputy committee chair, and secretary at various levels.   The experience has been invaluable, and I thank everyone for their support and cooperation.     #NewBeginnings #NDC #PeterObi2027 #FCTSenate #BetterAbuja #NewNigeria #ServiceFirst   Yours In Service Aisha Yesufu

A Fulani man, Bashir Dalhatu Liman, has narrated how he was denied boarding a commercial bus to Calabar in Lagos after fellow passengers refused to travel with him because of his ethnicity. In a TikTok video that has since drawn widespread reactions, Liman said he spent the night at GUO terminal hoping to get a bus to Calabar. He was told GUO had no Calabar route and was directed to GIGM. “After arriving early in the morning, I paid for my ticket. However, when I went to board the vehicle, the other passengers stated they would not travel with a Fulani man,” he said. Liman said the transport company refunded his fare and apologized, but the incident left him shaken. “This is the tragic situation we Fulani find ourselves in, within our own country. Just trying to board a vehicle, and because your face is that of a Fulani man, passengers refuse to travel with you, while others cheer and label you as ‘herdsmen’,” he added. The account has reignited conversations online about ethnic profiling and discrimination in Nigeria’s public spaces, with many calling for greater tolerance and accountability from transport operators. What's your opinion?

The meeting of Reno Omokri and Peter Obi at the Airport today underpins my description of Reno as a detribalised Nigerian. He saw Obi and went straight to greet him. They had a chat that lasted a good moment for friends. A man who has not grown above hate will not do that. Let the young ones around us understand this man and pick a virtue from him for evolution. We cannot build a new Nigeria if we remove love from our daily act. Reno does not hate anyone. He only loves Nigeria more than many of them. Keep it up Reno!

This is perhaps the biggest political blunder in Nigeria. In politics, & in whatever we do, a sense of time is as important as ambition. This promissory gesture was pretty much a suicide mission. Pretty much everything was bogus. Our former boyfriend was promised the Heaven & earth, but nothing materialized. Hardly anything is concrete in Nigeria. Yes means no! No is... well, take a guess! I was one of those Obidients who saw him as a governorship hopeful for his native Anambra. In him, I saw a Maverick, a Maverick’s Maverick. In fact, I was willing to lend my huge platform & talent free of charge. I’m hard to please. I’m a skeptic. Just a few politicians have managed to excite my curiosity. All of that curiosity went to waste; what a waste! The future leader decided to leave Peter Obi for the Iyaloja of Lagos state. What started in part as promising ended up as one of those fleeting moments. Fast-forward to this day, no one remembers his name. He remains in rampant obscurity. Not to be seen, not to be heard. The Ghost of our friendship past. Seeing his post today was like encountering a ghost from the past. And I don’t mean this in a bad way. I was genuinely rooting for him, WE ALL DID! He had this impressive ability to articulate his vision. However, patience had other ideas. This feels rushed. Like most human endeavor, it feels unrehearsed. Hindsight, I’m sure there are regrets. Our human nature can make mistakes. It can be very frustrating; but we trudge on. Nigeria is a dog-eat-dog world. This is a teachable moment. There is a lot to unpack, lessons to be learned. Nigeria is not an ideal place. Contrary to what many think, that place is still archaic & unforgiving, savage even! Nigeria offers you misery or death. Choose; it matters not to Nigeria. It doesn’t give you what you ask for. It gives you what it thinks you deserve. The cross movement of statistics of horror is staggering. Our hope is that someday, somehow, & in some ways, our victory will trump the brutality. An end to trepidation & moral turpitude. A New Nigeria is POssible. ✌️

My Enemies Want to Use Insecurity to Get Rid of Me, But I’m a Stubborn Politician Who Refuses to Go— President Tinubu President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has alleged that some individuals are exploiting the country’s security challenges in a bid to force him out of office, insisting that he remains resolute and focused on seeking a second term. Speaking during a recent engagement, the President said, “You’re playing into the hands of fidgets, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me.” Tinubu maintained that he would not succumb to such pressure, describing himself as determined to stay the course despite ongoing criticism and challenges. “I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to continue in office. The President further signalled his intention to seek re-election, adding, “I’ll be campaigning for my second term, I’ll work hard.”

🇺🇳 JUST IN: Guterres begs Iran to open the Strait. But where was his voice when the US blockaded ports? Where was his plea when Israel struck Iranian ships? The UN is not neutral. It is selective. It cries about tolls. Silent about bombs. That is not diplomacy. That is compliance. Pass this far and wide. The Secretary General is not a peacemaker. He is a firefighter who only shows up when the empire's house is burning.
