Lately there have been too many stories of #dogs being beaten, picked up, and removed from the #streets like they don’t belong there. It feels wrong, because they are part of our streets whether we like it or not. The starting point is simple but important proper #sterilisation and vaccination in every #ward, done fully, not halfway In cities like Istanbul, this is how it works. Community dogs are sterilised, vaccinated, and allowed to exist. You’ll see them resting outside cafés, sitting near shop entrances, sometimes even walking into public spaces without creating panic. People recognize them. They coexist. A lot of our reaction comes from unfamiliarity. When things are calmer and consistent, something shifts Familiarity replaces #fear Responsibility replaces #indifference People start noticing #suffering instead of ignoring it It’s not about big gestures just small everyday moments A shopkeeper refilling a water bowl A dog sleeping quietly in a corner without being chased People seeing that nothing “bad” happens when #coexistence is allowed #India 🇮🇳 could be a model country, showing our #culture of compassion and empathy. Something to think about. I hope some #Mayor or #CM will take this up and make theirs a model city/ state.
