States like California. Illinois and New York are losing population over the past 10 years, yet their budgets are up 70% to 100%.
Meanwhile … the population leaving is taking tens of billions of $$$ in annual income to states like Florida and Texas.
Now the budget crisis is hitting hard, with massive deficits that can’t be filled with higher taxes. People are already fleeing. Higher taxes will just make the problem worse.

I'm devastated by this news. I can't sleep. I'm so tired of the corruption in NYC.
You can buy a fully operational grocery store in NYC right now for $3M — you'd be open and running in a month.
Instead, Mamdani is blowing $30M of taxpayer money and taking 3 yrs to build a new one from scratch.
There is no logical reason to build a $30M taxpayer funded grocery store, when you can buy 10 that are already built out, for the same $30M.
There is a Costco and an Aldi less than a mile away. Easily accessible by the crosstown bus on 116th or via non-profits that deliver groceries for free.
This grocery store isn't about helping NYers.
This is corruption: payoffs to contractors, unions, local politicians, and insiders. Why waste $30M when the solution already exists?
NYC is headed to a very dark place.
If you think corruption in MN and CA is bad... you ain't seen nothing yet.
Get out of NYC asap.

So the Pope met with David Axelrod last week. David Axelrod. Obama's campaign architect. A man who is not Catholic, has never met a pope before, and whose entire career has been engineering political narratives for the American left.
And then, by pure coincidence, the Pope immediately started lobbing shots at the Trump administration, and three US Cardinals popped up on 60 Minutes doing the same thing.
All organically, I'm sure.
I'm a practicing Catholic. I need you to understand that part. But in my opinion, Trump has all the right to lash out at him. Maybe you'll disagree, but in the end, Trump talks like Trump. Water is wet. I'm talking about MY Church being run like a DNC satellite office but with a golden throne.
This is the same Vatican that watched governments padlock churches during COVID and said nothing. That let Biden take communion while funding abortion and said nothing. That fired Bishop Strickland for defending actual Church doctrine. That removed Bishop Fernández in Puerto Rico for defending religious exemptions THE CATECHISM ITSELF supports.
But somehow Trump is the threat to human dignity.
Pope Francis was bad. Leo has turned out to be worse. Francis at least was vague about his politics. Leo went and hired the consulting firm.
The man has ignored the slaughter of Christians across Nigeria, the Sahel, India, Syria, Bangladesh, Pakistan. Hundreds of believers murdered, churches burned, pastors kidnapped. His response? Platitudes about dialogue.
OF COURSE he won't even name who's doing the killing.
But he'll fly across continents to make interfaith gestures the week after his people coordinated a media hit on a sitting US president.
The weaponization of belief is obvious. You get the Pope to pick a fight with Trump, and suddenly millions of conservative Catholics have to choose between their faith and their vote.

It's called an Offer in Compromise. Form 656. The IRS approved 42% of them last year. Application fee: $205
Here's the exact formula they use to decide your number and how to make sure yours gets accepted
The IRS doesn't want to chase you for 10 years. Collection costs money. Agents cost money. Liens cost money. They'd rather take $5,000 today than spend $50,000 over a decade trying to squeeze $100,000 out of someone who will never have it
That's the entire program. They did the math and built a form for it
The formula:
The IRS calculates your "Reasonable Collection Potential." What they realistically think they can get from you. Your offer needs to meet or beat that number
RCP = (monthly disposable income × remaining collection months) + (asset equity after exemptions)
Monthly disposable income: your gross income minus IRS-allowed expenses. They have specific tables for housing, food, transportation, and healthcare by county. Not YOUR expenses. THEIR approved numbers
If you earn $4,000/month and their table says your allowable expenses are $3,800, your disposable income is $200/month
Remaining months: for a lump sum offer (paid within 5 months), they multiply by 12. For a payment plan (6-24 months), they multiply by 24
Assets: bank accounts, investments, vehicles, property. But they subtract exemptions. Your primary car up to a certain value is exempt. Household furnishings exempt. Retirement accounts often partially exempt
Real case:
Disposable income: $200/month
Asset equity after exemptions: $2,000
Lump sum RCP: ($200 × 12) + $2,000 = $4,400
That's your offer. $4,400 on $100,000 in tax debt. 4.4 cents on the dollar
The forms:
Form 433-A (OIC): full financial disclosure. Income, expenses, assets, bank statements. Every number. Fill it out honestly because they verify everything. Lying on this form is a federal crime and they'll reject your offer AND flag you for audit
Form 656: the offer itself. Your amount. Your payment terms
$205 application fee (waived if income is below 250% of federal poverty level)
Initial payment: 20% of your offer submitted with the application for lump sum. On a $4,400 offer that's $880 upfront
Here's the part that makes this genuinely broken:
While your offer is being reviewed, which takes 6-24 months, ALL collection activity stops. No levies. No liens. No wage garnishment. They legally cannot collect while the OIC is pending
And if the IRS doesn't make a determination within 2 years of receiving your application? Your offer is automatically accepted. Two years of silence = you win by default. That's in the tax code lmao
Client owed $147,000 across 3 tax years. Hadn't filed. Hadn't paid. Getting letters every month. We calculated his RCP at $6,200. Submitted the OIC with $1,240 initial payment
IRS accepted 7 months later
$145,000 in tax debt settled for $6,200. 4.2 cents on the dollar
