ఏపీకి ఆల్టర్నేటివ్ రాజధాని ప్రాంతంగా "మావిగన్ (MAVIGUN)" (మచిలీపట్నం (MA) + విజయవాడ (VI) + గుంటూరు (GUN) ) ను శ్రీ @ysjagan సూచించారు. మచిలీపట్నం నుండి విజయవాడ 70 కి.మీ, విజయవాడ నుండి గుంటూరు 40 కి.మీ (ఇది ఇప్పటికే ఉన్న హైవే మీద ఉంది) ఈ మూడు నగరాలను కలిపి క్యాపిటల్ ఏరియాగా చేస్తే ఓ గొప్ప ఎకనమిక్ గ్రోత్ ఇంజిన్ గా ఈ 110 కిలోమీటర్ల కారిడార్ తయారౌతుందని శ్రీ వైయస్ జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి చెప్పారు. ఈ "మావిగన్" ప్రాంతంలో సుమారు 34 లక్షల జనాభా ఉందని, అమరావతి కోసం పెట్టాలనుకుంటున్న రూ 2 లక్షల కోట్లలో కేవలం 10 శాతం ఖర్చు చేస్తే చాలు ఏపీకి రాజధాని ఏర్పడుతుందని చెప్పారు. తమ హయాంలో నిర్మాణం చేపట్టిన మచిలీపట్నం పోర్ట్‌ వల్ల ఈ ప్రాంతం చెన్నై,బాంబే పోర్ట్ సిటీలాగా మారుతుందని చెప్పారు.
