A huge percentage of children are using AI chatbots as companions. It's a concerning development, and lawmakers are introducing bills in Congress to address it. The GUARD Act would prohibit companion chatbots for those under 18. It has bipartisan support.

Youth vaping concerns are real. But the products primarily driving youth use are illicit Chinese vapes marketed with candy flavors like gummy bear and waffle, not FDA-authorized products intended for adult smokers.

FDA made the right choice. Illegal, unregulated Chinese vapes w/ dangerous chemicals and kid-targeted flavors are all over the U.S. Banning American companies from selling flavored vapes gives more market share to illegal products and denies adults a legit smoking alternative.

Back in March, ProPublica reported that Lisa Monaco—and other former DoJ officials that were responsible for vetting Microsoft cloud products for cybersecurity—pushed through approvals despite red flags. Now, they work at Microsoft, but they're facing a potential DoJ referral.

The Department of Justice is supposed to prosecute companies for misrepresenting their cybersecurity. Two senior DOJ officials helped push Microsoft's cloud product through, even after Chinese hackers breached it, then took senior jobs at Microsoft. Talk about conflict of interest.

BEAD was designed to bring fixed high-speed broadband to every American that lacks access. Some voices want to expand the program to include mobile wireless towers. As @bart_cleland writes, Congress didn't intend that. And direct-to-device satellite may solve coverage gaps.
