Curious what you guys think, does this Dex trade make any sense with the context that they could’ve just not treated Trey Hendrickson like shit, extended him, and kept the 10th pick? I know he and Dex do some different things but is their net impact not about the same?

@BannedJoke Super out on Hill at that spot. But I wouldn’t be unhappy with the rest of it, although Height isn’t their kind of EDGE player the Bengals usually take. I hope they deviate for speed rusher-types, but we’ll see.

Most sacks since 2020:   Myles Garrett (95.0)
T.J. Watt (80.5)
Trey Hendrickson (74.5) The Cincy defensive improvements will be lipstick on a pig if they can’t block those guys. @PaulHembo

Joe Burrow has missed 16 games over the last 3 seasons, the Bengals are 19-16 when Burrow DOES play over that time, but sure, they're a 29-year-old NT (even an awesome one) away from contending.

For the record , I stand by my statement that #10 is an overpay Very happy Dex is here, but I think they lost the deal Having said that, this is the type of aggressive move other teams are praised for

If you’re a Bengals fan: don’t expect this to change your defense overnight. The linebackers and secondary are still terrible + no more Hendrickson Very proud of the Giants for getting a top 10 pick for Dex. I was not sure if he was going to go for that much so major win!

So let me get this straight: it’s a deep defensive draft… so you trade away a top 10 pick where you could lock up a younger player for up to 5 years…. for an older ( but very good) player…who can walk in 2 years as a free agent?
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Draft week blockbuster: The Giants are trading three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in a deal that will include the 10th overall pick going to New York, per ESPN sources. The Giants now head into Thursday night with the 5th and 10th overall picks.

Give me any of the top 5 receivers, Keldric Faulk, EMW, and any top Offensive lineman over Thieneman for the Bengals at 10

Would be just as bad if not worse than the Shemar Stewart pick👍

#1 on Goodberry’s board #17 Consensus Should the Bengals take Dillon Thieneman at 10 rather than Delane or McCoy?

@GrantTRoosevelt @BannedJoke @JoeGoodberry To provide an evaluation of production while considering both age and risk factors. Downs was downgraded in his grading because he didn’t do athletic testing, which is always a concern. Thieneman did, and tested off the charts. Joe went over all of this in this video and others.

@scarletstache @BannedJoke @JoeGoodberry I watched it. He has DT as his highest graded player. I get that he cautions at the very end "I'm not saying he's better than Downs" but then what's the purpose of your grading?

@BannedJoke This is where @JoeGoodberry is a joke. He's comparing Thieneman to Downs. Downs has tape at 18 starting game 1 as a true freshman in Saban's defense. Not Purdue. That means he replaced a stud. And no safety played more positions on the field than Downs. DT is great but c'mon!

@awfulannouncing Yeah, Todd is pathetic. A dead girl is irrelevant to him. Meaningless. Zero to report on her folks, no story here, move on like I did ... What a punk @McShay13 is. Dead girl = meh to him.

@NoFilm_Analysis The “holier than thou” is unreal with this. There is no draft analyst who watches 20+ games of every single prospect. That person doesn’t exist. And getting this upset because you didn’t like a response to a tweet is ridiculous. NFL TEAMS don’t watch 20+ games of these dudes.

I Don’t Watch Film (Football Analytics)
Good thing I don't use spreadsheets to tell me if a player is good or not. I agree that blending film and analytics is the key in proper prospect evaluations. That's what NFL teams and actual decision-makers do. Saying you can learn a lot about a player in 4 games is bullshit. It's a lie people tell themselves because they just started scouting prospects 3 months before the NFL draft and there isn't enough time to actually watch an adequate amount of film for a prospect before the draft. It's disrespectful to the players and discredits the amount of work they've put in on and off the field. And it's disrespectful to the actual draft analysts who put in an enormous amount of time, effort, and resources into proper film evaluation. Watching film on prospects is fun. But let's not act like watching a 4-game cut-up puts someone on the same level as film analysts who actually put in the work year-round. Watching film and evaluating prospects is a skill. It's an art. It requires experience, knowledge, expertise, and familiarity, not just as a whole, but for every position. You want me to put any kind of trust or value in the opinion of someone who's telling me how good a player is for someone they had no idea existed the week prior? People who actually put in the work can smell the bullshit. A vast majority of draft opinions by self-proclaimed film analysts are so shallow that they cave the second they receive any pushback. The NFL is doing it right because they have actual investment in prospect evaluation. If most NFL draft analysts were actually held to ANY kind of standard and required ANY kind of credibility in their prospect evaluation, the quality of draft content would increase exponentially. But they're not. No, you cannot evaluate the value of a player in 4 games. Or 6 games. Or 10 games. If you want your opinion to actually mean something then put in the work and watch the damn film. Otherwise, you're a content creator first and not an actual draft analyst.
Marcus Whitman@TFG_Football

Hey man, your bit is cool but don't come at us film guys like that 😡. You can learn a hell of a lot more about a player in 4 games than any spreadsheet will teach you. The real ticket is blending both film and analytics.
