On the other side of the Selzer poll freak out. I think the poll is wrong, and probably by a significant margin. But she is one of the most well respected pollsters in the states. The idea she has deliberately put out a “suppression poll” as some people are suggesting is nuts.

@SAshworthHayes I'm curious: who is "seething"? As far as I can see, most of us are delighted that history is being carried to a wider audience. And that someone is communicating & synthesizing all that "niche" research. Popular & academic history aren't opposites. They're mutually beneficial.

Academic historians absolutely seething at the realisation making accessible fun content about things people find interesting leads to greater success than writing about extremely niche subfields for an audience of 12 other people, two of whom are dead.
