The Dig (1995), a point-and-click adventure game by LucasArts. Love the atmospheric intro. Completely cinematic and blew me away when I first played it. #DOSGaming #RETROGAMING

😊 Please retweet! 😊 Do any of my followers have any advice on building a simple online store that can accept credit card payments? Stock might only be up to 50 or 100 items max. Preferably want something free or cheap with minimum brain cells required to operate it.

Trump's apparent victory has 5 big implications for the UK: 🧵 1️⃣ It can happen here. He will back Farage, the Musk propaganda machine will crank up against Labour; the Tories will remould themselves into Trump-lite Islamophobes ...

@IanDunt @mrjamesob @sturdyAlex Folks, which US TV News Channel (not Fox) is free to air in the UK for the results? Last time CNN was available but it's now behind a paywall

Do you know how we make AdLib/Soundblaster🎵? Main component of these famous 90's soundcards was the OPL soundchip, which performs FM synthesis. Here's my attempt to recreate the famous "Largo theme" we could ear in Monkey Island 2 😊 #pointandclick #lucasarts #gamedev

People asking why I'd vote Harris. In 1992 George Bush glanced at his watch during a debate, and it effectively ended his Presidency. Last week Trump told a man who claimed he'd been savaged in his bed by demons he'd like Liz Cheney to have guns shoved in her face. That's why.

@DPJHodges It’s interesting how you discredit data that’s positive for Harris, but give credence for the polls that suggest Trump is ahead

On the other side of the Selzer poll freak out. I think the poll is wrong, and probably by a significant margin. But she is one of the most well respected pollsters in the states. The idea she has deliberately put out a “suppression poll” as some people are suggesting is nuts.

@SAshworthHayes I'm curious: who is "seething"? As far as I can see, most of us are delighted that history is being carried to a wider audience. And that someone is communicating & synthesizing all that "niche" research. Popular & academic history aren't opposites. They're mutually beneficial.

Academic historians absolutely seething at the realisation making accessible fun content about things people find interesting leads to greater success than writing about extremely niche subfields for an audience of 12 other people, two of whom are dead.

Worth every penny - they've made history so much more interesting to so many people. I just hope poor Gary Lineker is getting his fair share telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/….

@implausibleblog Not sure what you actually want them to do about it, Farrukh. They can't rejoin the SM and magically make the problems disappear. That is a conversation for another day.

Is Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves being dishonest and ignoring the impact of Brexit on our economy, As bad as Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak pretending Brexit is a roaring success?

Channel 4 News have this chart of budgets with different chancellors Rachel Reeves's is the highest at £40 billion Which coincidentally matches the annual loss in tax revenue from trade with the EU because of Brexit

Here are some of the “sacrifices” Starmer says some British people must make: “So if we want justice to be served some communities must live close to new prisons. If we want to maintain support for the welfare state, then we will legislate to stop benefit fraud. Do everything we can to tackle worklessness. If we want cheaper electricity, we need new pylons overground otherwise the burden on taxpayers is too much. If we want home ownership to be a credible aspiration for our children, then every community has a duty to contribute to that purpose. If we want to tackle illegal migration seriously we can't pretend there's a magical process that allows you to return people here unlawfully without accepting that process will also grant some people asylum. If we want to be serious about levelling-up, then we must be proud to be the party of wealth creation. Unashamed to partner with the private sector. And perhaps most importantly of all, that just because we all want low taxes and good public services this does not mean that the iron law of properly funding policies can be ignored, because it can't. We have seen the damage that does and I will not let that happen again. I will not let Tory economic recklessness hold back the working people of this country.” #LabourConference2024
