Replace gas heating and A/C units with a heat pump (which does both heating and cooling in one unit) 3. Replace a gas hot water heater with a heat pump hot water heater (or tankless electric) 4. Replace a gas stove with an electric stove 5. Replace a gas clothes dryer with an electric dryer (a heat pump one preferably) 6. Replace a gas lawn mower, weed whacker and leaf blower with electric ones 7. Replace a gas grill with an electric grill 8. If you have a house built new, make it all-electric (no gas line; heat pump; 14-50 outlet for each garage car bay) 9. If you can afford to, put solar panels on your home’s roof. If your HOA does not allow for it, buy community solar 10. Fly less (until we have electric or emission-free flights) 11. Use reusable biodegradable cloth, such as canvas, bags at the grocery store Go all-electric! Reduce plastic consumption. Be done with fossil fuels! We all have a responsibility. They need to do a major round of cost cutting like Elon has done many times. Cut the least essential 10%+ of headcount, etc. RJ Scaringe is incentivized (milestone payouts) to make Rivian profitable, but he just doesn’t seem to have it in him to cut @Rivian @RJScaringe Any response?

At current deliveries, Rivian would need roughly $60,000 of additional gross profit per vehicle to cover adjusted quarterly operating expenses using the automotive operation alone

@wholemars I nailed on my very small rivian position as soon as it went positive. I hope they succeed, but I’m not interested in funding their success.

Rivian is attempting three capital-intensive transitions simultaneously 1. Launching and ramping R2 2. Building a new factory in Georgia 3. Funding an in-house autonomy stack before the existing automotive business has demonstrated durable profitability or positive cash generation. Each of these initiatives will require billions of dollars. Investors should expect and be prepared for more dilutive capital raises.

Doesn’t the EPA rate the cars with their own consistent methodology that includes a mix of typical real world conditions? I would expect an all-70-mph test to be below the EPA rating. Remarkable that it’s not with the Model Y, but not particularly bad or unexpected if it is with the R2 or any EV

MPGe is measured at the wall, weighted toward city driving, and never holds a steady 70. That is most of the reason the R2 reads high on the sticker and lower on the interstate. riviantrackr.com/news/rivian-r2…

It would suck if spaceX had to remove and reapply the tiles on Starship after every flight. Last time we watched them do that it took 2 weeks. That would mean Starship reflight would *only* be 4 times faster than the Space Shuttle.

I want to settle this debate regarding Rivian R2 and Model Y efficiency / range: It doesn’t matter to the average buyer. They want safe and reliable transportation to go work, store and take their kids to school. They don’t care if one vehicle is more efficient than the other one. They care about price, features and the way it looks. Both vehicles are awesome and you can’t go wrong with either one. Let’s stop with that tribalism and support more EVs on the road. After all, we are supposed to care about ditching gas right?
