Keiran “KIKI” Lencheski - Reporting
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected to join @NBCUniversal for the NBC 2026 Winter Olympics Immersion Program! This incredible opportunity will allow me to learn firsthand from industry leaders, contribute to the behind-the-scenes magic of the Olympic Games, and continue growing my career in sports and media. The Olympics bring the world together through stories of excellence, resilience, and unity — and I can’t wait to play a part in helping bring those stories to life in Milan and Cortina. Grateful for the chance to represent The University of Mississippi and the School of Journalism and New Media, and eager to get started on this unforgettable journey toward the Games!  #MilanCortina #NBCUHereYouCan

This play reminds me of “the Slide” in 1991. I watched almost every game of that season as a graduate student at the University of Alabama “studying” every night in front of the TV. So when Francisco Cabrera came up to bat in the most critical point in the season, and I had no idea who he was, I wasn’t very optimistic. And then magic happened! Cabrera laced a hit into left field where none other than Barry Bonds fielded it and came up throwing. Sid Bream scored the game-winning and NL series-winning run from second with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. Barry Bonds threw to the catcher slightly offline towards first base. Bream, one of the slowest runners in baseball with surgically repaired knees, slid just slightly ahead and under the tag by Pirates catcher Mike Lavalliere. The Braves had entered the inning down 2-0, with the Pirates just three outs away from a trip to the World Series. Later, we learned that the only reason the Braves sent Bream from third base was because the Braves were out of field players and the next Braves batter would have been a pitcher. Bonds was one of the best in the game at throwing out runners at the plate. Bream’s score ranks not only as one of the best moments in Braves history, but one of the best in all of MLB history. Many consider the Braves’ 9th inning as the greatest comeback in baseball history. The whole season was a magical year. After being really bad for almost 2 decades, and finishing in last place in 1990, the Braves, led by manager Bobby Cox, won the National League West when both leagues had only two divisions. They then went on to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in a thrilling National League Championship Series, becoming the first team in baseball history to win the NL pennant after finishing in last place the year before. They lost to the Minnesota Twins in a World Series decided in extra innings in Game 7. But the 1991 Braves team started an incredible run that saw the Braves win division titles in 14 of the next 15 years, including five NL pennants and a World Championship. I’ll never forget going to @AlabamaFTBL games in Tuscaloosa when the @Braves were in the playoffs that year and everyone in the stadium was listening to the Braves game and when the Braves would do something positive the entire stadium would erupt in a tomahawk chop… In the middle of an Alabama football game nonetheless! #AsOneATL Source: @imaginesports

Anyone able to guess the top-rated market for USA-Netherlands last night? It’s a slight surprise, I guess. The match did not go head to head with local MLB in this market which probably made the difference.

Running can be frustrating with its slow progress and delayed gratification. But when things come together, it’s that much sweeter. I had one of those magic days on Sunday: despite pouring rain, a 13.1 PR at a pace I could barely hold for a mile when I started running in 2017
