@CNBC Has he ever thought that maybe the two don't need to be mutually exclusive? He can literally do both and still be a billionaire.

@pinglyadya The guys is trying to explain that like... you wouldnt want a shell to eject if someone's like close grappling you. If you get a shot off and you miss or its just a flesh wound. If the bad guy gets your gun they would have to cock the gun again to load it. but I think its stupid

@arielhelwani Think it was more to take the discussion away from MVP. Biggest story of the night was arguably McGregor return, not MVP.

If I were trying to be as petty as the UFC in the moment they announced the Conor fight, I would’ve said, ‘We’re making a big announcement — tune in to Paramount+. We have an exclusive interview with the biggest star in the sport.’ You wanted people to stop watching the Netflix show, but you did it on IG Live in the most underwhelming way possible? It just felt like they didn’t execute it as well as they could have.

@theboyssocials They clearly didn't get enough of a budget from Amazon. When shows have a limited budget, they usually pack the cool special effects into the first episode and last episode of a season.

@MsMelChen It’s all fraud. Fraudulent evaluations, fraudulent capabilities promised, fraudulent social impacts. The kids are getting dumber, the tech is getting more vulnerable, and the scammers are monetizing.

I wonder how much of the ire directed at AI is (a) jobs vs. (b) fears of surveillance vs. (c) annoyance at how AI was shoved down our throats without consent Like we didn’t ask for our kettle bells and toaster ovens to connect to WiFi for app subscriptions and now AI feels like the same thing. Basically the whole 'internet of things" (IoT) craze made products and every day living WORSE and even more expensive because too many things required apps, subscriptions and cloud dependency. It was sold as “smart” and convenient, but mostly it just locked us into ecosystems and created new failure points. Now AI is conjuring up the same sense of deja vu - suddenly it’s in your search bar, your photo editor, your writing tools, your customer service, your car, and even your light bulbs. The public never really opted in. It was opt-out at best, and often not even that. So I think some of the ire is Luddite rejection and exhaustion because all this was sold as inevitable progress but it's created instead, nostalgia for the old products and appliances.

I attended the University of Arizona commencement ceremony, where Eric Schmidt @ericschmidt faced boos throughout his speech. If you don’t know how young graduates feel about AI, this post is for you. The message is clear: it reflects growing skepticism toward AI narratives coming out of Silicon Valley. I keep coming back to one question for anyone building AI: are you building for humans? Build responsible and ethical AI. AI governance and compliance matter. (Speech excerpt.)

Our investigators lost critical hours tracking down today’s shooting suspects because Austin’s City Council chose politics over public safety and prevented APD from using license plate readers and other crime-fighting technology. Those cameras could have helped identify suspect vehicles faster, track movements across the city, and potentially stop additional shootings before more innocent Austinites became victims. Instead, our officers were handcuffed by their own city leaders. While violent criminals exploit every advantage they can get, Austin police are being denied tools that departments across the country use every day to solve violent crimes and protect their communities. How many more victims will it take before this council starts prioritizing public safety over political activism?
World News Tonight@ABCWorldNews

Arrests have been made in Austin after at least 10 shootings in the last 24 hours. four victims have been shot, police believe the shootings have been at random. Alex Stone reports. abcnews.link/Rb7av6X

Actually, those arrests could’ve been challenged if you used illegal technology that violated their constitutional rights. You don’t get to record everybody and monitor us in real time to stop crying sorry buddy don’t give a fuck. Otherwise, it needs to be public and nobody can be above it, especially law-enforcement in the wealthy. So let’s watch y’all’s actions 24 seven I agree with that in a public database that everybody can watch it anytime who cares about your privacy you don’t care about ours.

I don’t know why data centers have become this generations nuclear power. Unlike nuclear power, there is a 0% chance that a data center can lead to any sort of disaster scenario. This project in Utah is: - in an uninhabited area - bought and repurposed water already in use - is bringing its own power, so it won’t cost citizens anything It’s like being against building a nuclear power plant in the middle of Nevada, except there is no radioactive waste. No fall out. No risk of anything. It’s a big computer in the middle of nowhere, that is self sufficient in all resources. There are a million real problems in America. Data centers just aren’t one.
Quick Thoughts@lthlnkso

I think the big Utah data center is fine.

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

You get 45 seconds after reaching your ball to play your shot. You get 45 seconds to figure out whatever you need to figure out. If that's not enough time, then you need to figure out how to adjust your process and routine. You get 45 seconds. One second more - call it the Higgo Paradigm - and you get a 2-stroke penalty. Every time you exceed 45 seconds. It's not fucking rocket surgery. The clock starts when you get to your ball. You have 45 seconds to figure it out.

Justin Thomas’s group were put on the clock today at the PGA Championship. He said after the round he disagrees with the decision and spoke about “time par”: “We were, yeah. We just didn't really agree with it. It's hard because it's kind of the whole time par thing. What is time par? How can time par on this course be the same when it's blowing 25 and the pins are tough than if it's not? And does time par change every day? There's just so many factors that go into it. “We were behind. I'm not -- I think that wasn't our issue or being annoyed by it, it's just the fact that we weren't holding up the group behind us. They were about -- it seemed like every time we were on the green, they were on the tee and so on and so forth. “The hard part to me with the whole pace of play thing is that you, there's so much that goes into golf and there's so much that goes into hole to hole in terms of, are you hitting it close, are you able to tap it in, or you have to mark it, stuff like that, to where, are you holding the group up or are you not, to where it's very hard to make that call. And we just didn't agree with it, to be honest. “But we got taken off, and a hole later we were caught up. So it kind of goes to our point of why we didn't think we should of, but it is what it is. It's a part of it.” He then was asked whether he had to rush to get back into position: “No. I backed off on my first shot being on the clock even. It's just, it's so hard out here, and that's the last thing I'm going to do is make a mistake because I feel like I'm rushing. “If we were, for some reason, to get in a position where I was getting, we were getting bad times and we were continuing to be on, I would have had more discussions with the rules officials to kind of plead my case. But that was -- it's hard enough -- I'm not going to sit out there and take two minutes, like that's disrespectful to the field and everybody. “But at the same time, I'm not going to -- you know, I'm not going to rush and hit a shot that isn't right. So just kind of went about my business and just was ready to play when it was my turn like I feel like I do normally.” It does a bit ineffective to put one group on the clock if they can quickly catch up with the group ahead. But professional golf is far too slow and something does need to be done to improve the pace of play. Justin is currently inside the top 10 after a second consecutive 69. Nice! @JustinThomas34 @PGAChampionship

PGA Championship leader Alex Smalley’s group teed off at 8:51am. They’ve been out there for more than 3 and a half hours and are currently on their 11th hole. The pace of play out there is brutal.
