@0sWhaler @DocStrangelove2 (still never a bad time to stay in touch w folks obviously I just i found it surprising this isn't true)
English

@DocStrangelove2 Genuinely sad. Stay in touch with your friends and family this time of year. It’s important.

RIP isn’t big enough for our man here. Huge loss.

James Ransone has sadly passed away at the age of 46 by suicide
English

@andrewkrok @MargBarAmerica Yeah you missed the fact that people buy new cars over time as their current cars depreciate and eventually break down
English

@MargBarAmerica “from road safety”
oh i’m sorry, did i miss the part that makes everyone turn in their F-250s? put one of those up against a kei car and you’ll be lucky if there’s enough paste left for a DNA sample
English

sorry but this is like the one good thing he might do. i mean just unambiguously good in every way possible, from road safety to eventually changing transportation culture in america for good
Shannon Watts@shannonrwatts
Who needs healthcare when we have tiny cars?
English

@coldhealing It’s Monday; did you want the entire week off? Not even children get that
English

@AmericanGwyn No exceptions. It’s beyond me why this insecure nonsense is somehow ok for medical doctors.
English

This is ruffling a lot of Pheathers, but I agree. People with PhDs just look insecure when they insist that everyone calls them “doctor.” I don’t even like my students calling me “Dr. Gwyn.” Maybe if my PhD was in Physics, I’d feel differently. Mine’s in English—who cares?!
Josh Barro@jbarro
Sorry, literally every person who goes by “Dr.” and isn’t a medical doctor is insufferable. None of you are the exception. Not one.
English

Gets PhD, ends up hosting a podcast with Kate Willett. Clings to the honorific because it’s all he has in the world.
Dr. Émile P. Torres (they/them)@xriskology
I do it because I worked unbelievably hard to get that honorific. I tell my students: having a PhD means only one thing: that you--statistically speaking--know more than almost anyone else in the world about one or two narrow topics (and that you worked hard to achieve that
English

@Jayseki @shay_slattery @canamrock @WiseWoodrow @esjesjesj Fair enough. I’d assume people typically make those sorts of claims to stake out an oppositional stance and signal the direction and strength of their beliefs on these issues, rather than to propose a sincerely held and nuance-free policy. But that could be overly charitable.
English

@scrocrates @shay_slattery @canamrock @WiseWoodrow @esjesjesj we might not disagree as much as you think. i am all for prison reforms, creating more humane prisons, reducing inmate population, etc.
but people claim to be for a world with literally no prisons, and that's delusional
English

@Jayseki @shay_slattery @canamrock @WiseWoodrow @esjesjesj I’m confident that you and I fundamentally disagree on the value of prisons but it is hilarious how willfully obtuse everyone has been in engaging with you
English

@shay_slattery @canamrock @WiseWoodrow @esjesjesj ironically, saying "only 12 year olds believe that" is *actually* ad populum
English

@scrocrates The people who live there and the builders. The construction people did the labor of building the place. Not the landlord - they are a middleman.
