NEWS: The Senate just unanimously passed a bill to allow D.C. to spend its local funds at their current levels, moving to undo a provision of the federal spending bill that would have slashed the city's budget by more than $1 billion. The bill heads to the House next.

Councilmember Henderson worked both in the US Senate and at the DC Council. She is a great person to listen to on how Congress' budgeting impacts the District. There is no way around it: the CR will bring severe cuts to public safety, public education, and human services in DC.

For DC Public Schools, only 70% of teachers stayed this year compared to last. Nearly 1/3 left. With 17% leaving teaching in DC altogether. And the trend isn't going the right way, with 26% leaving in 2022 & 19% leaving in 2021. Next let’s look at the charter sector.
