Islamabad is annoyed by getting pounded by all kinds of jihadists and separatists, but it's not that black and white when it comes to the Taliban. Kabul, and to the lesser extent Kandahar, have tried to curb the flow of jihadists harbored in Afghanistan, with arrests and relocation measures, aimed mainly at their Pashtun brother organisation Pakistan uses as an excuse. Obviously, Islamic State once found out in hideouts is exterminated by everyone. The Talibs have tried different solutions, but the limits are glaringly obvious given how much of a crisis is ongoing in Afghanistan. And we still have nearby Iran, directly contributing to crises in Afghanistan and Pakistan themselves. Now, imagine if the US attacks Iran and destroys state's capacity to establish monopol of violence in border regions. We are in for a ride this year depending on choices in the Imperial Capital.
