As a side note, since it seems like the most obvious place this goes wrong is with the outstanding orders < bond calc - malicious front ends, RPCs shitting the bed etc - I wonder have you guys thought about some sort of bonded data service for this? Maybe it’s stupid because it’s just moving wrong way on capital efficiency spectrum, but potentially cool if I could buy a form of bridge insurance / economically secured data from the data / FE provider as well?

Agreed was thinking about the same scenario. You could probably do it based on challenge order if the resolution oracle also returned the calc for how much of the corresponding order should be covered by the bond - so calculates the capital in flight at time of order - and only pays out that much. Seems obviously worse though since the oracle has to determine merkle order anyways + it's nice to have the oracle simplicity of just matching merkle roots

Just shipped the Across Prime paper, a new design for a capital efficient trustless fast bridge authored with @danrobinson, @mrice32, and the @AcrossProtocol team. Across Prime aims to deliver the near instant speed of intent based bridges but with greater capital efficiency. 🧵
