It is going to be a real joy watching other companies try to catch @seddonandrew and the @CircuitHub team. They've taken 14 years of experience and channeled it into building the electronics fab of the future. Moats in manufacturing are built on a lot of things: technology, process, knowledge, customer trust...This team has all of that and more. Congrats on the round!

what a great news. Andrew and a team were working on this for 15 years. Just incredible. So many things changed in that time. Also Andrew is one of the smartest and most creative CEOs I’ve ever worked with. He knows the numbers and knows how to reach any topic(very rare), he is passionate about hardware and supply chains but somehow he also have incredible understanding and taste on each topic starting from programming languages, to JS libraries to consume software in general. If anyone can do improve production and supply chains it’s him and the team 👏👏👏

A company that has come out of Cambridge has become the fastest-growing electronics manufacturer in the US. It's aiming to onshore electronics manufacturing in the West, and is leveraging AI and robotics to do so. The company has built an automated electronics manufacturing system that turns design files into printed, production-ready circuit boards in days. Today it has raised $28m from @pluralplatform to build more sites across Europe and the US. Amazing news - congrats to @seddonandrew and the @CircuitHub team

@CJHandmer Cap gains on say startup stock is pretty comparable to the US, EMI option scheme better than US plans in many cases. Top heavy income tax is pretty bad though and agree on other points.

In case you're thinking I'm exaggerating, in the UK and Australia, there is a vibrant "tall poppy" culture. Attaining financial independence is punished with a very top heavy income tax structure. Capital gains receive no special treatment. The voracious tax and spend welfare state has given up all pretense at fiscal discipline and plays "hunt kill destroy" on any sign of economic dynamism, systematically identifying and crushing successful entrepreneurs.

@svonava There’s multiple 1B+ London companies missing from this list. Elevenlabs is London not NYC.

@chrija @Redpoint @loganbartlett Slack rolled out very aggressive API limits making it useless as an agent knowledge base. The buy/build decision isn't about the cost of the build it's about the cost of not having your data accessible to claude code.

This is a great report on the state of software and AI by @Redpoint - thank you, @loganbartlett! Where I disagree is the build vs. buy slide: 1) I'm not sure if it takes ~12 engineers to build/maintain a Slack clone for 1 customer. As AI keeps getting better at not only code gen but all software engineering tasks I think you'll be able to do it with a smaller team. Doesn't mean you should spend engineering time on it because I expect... 2) ... there will be agencies who specialize in this kind of work (e.g. build a Slack clone and sell customized versions of it). 3) ... there will be lots of cheap, (more or less) good enough Slack clones 4) ... there will be AI-native startups that rethink the category. All of these factors, I think, will contribute to pricing pressure for Slack and other traditional SaaS companies ... which they will only be able to defend against if they get a share of the agentic revenue enabled by their products.

@aphysicist VC was originally designed to fund a big lump of R&D required to bring a product or service to market. Some businesses need that and others don’t, pros and cons really

@blind_via Fab and assembly have different information requirements. Most designers do not provide unambiguous documentation, we have millions of data points on that.

@seddonandrew @blind_via @CircuitHub For boards that do come from overseas, do you send them the design files or gerbers only? I've seen from my design resource downloads that you do produce gerbers for the design so curious what those are used for.

Have any of you used @circuithub? @seddonandrew They do NOT accept gerbers. Only database level files. RED FLAG! This looks like a trap. They want your native design files. DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY! Gerber files are a layer of protection for you
