Zambia needs to apologize to Kenneth Kaunda; a) In 1999 we stripped him off his Zambian citizenship and accused him of being a foreigner in Zambia b) In 1999, the Zambian Embassy in Austria refused to help him & said the Embassy only helps Zambian Citizens and not foreigners

The Rhodesians deliberately designed the streets of 4 x surbubs postioned next to Bulawayo CBD in a way that allows for future expansion of the CBD. E.g the numbering of avenues continues from NorthEnd through the CBD then into Famona, up to 23rd Avenue. Similarly, grid designed streets continue into Surbubs. Already, Surbubs has been approved for mixed use developments. That's why restaurants & company offices are popping up there.

After China's cancellation of Meta's purchase of Manus, why would any founder start an AI company in China if they had a choice? In China you have access to less compute, less capital, and salaries are lower than in the West. And if you are so successful that a non-Chinese firm tries to acquire you for billions of dollars, the Chinese government will lure you back to Beijing, ban you from leaving the country, and take your profits by canceling the acquisition. Manus did everything right. They even moved their entire business to Singapore to comply with U.S. outbound investment restrictions. Their only mistake was that they originally founded the company in China. It's not even clear what it means for China to force Meta to unwind the transaction. Is it going to force Manus's researchers to return to China and place exit bans on them too? Is it going to force Manus's founders and shareholders to pay back $2 billion to Meta? This is what happens when you regulate by fiat rather than rule of law. Ultimately, this is a much larger defeat for the Chinese AI ecosystem than for the United States. Meta will be fine without Manus. But Chinese nationals looking to found AI companies will increasingly just start them overseas. The message from the Chinese government here is that every AI company founded in China will forever remain subject to Chinese government regulatory pressure and manipulation, regardless of its legal status or location. Lastly, given the Chinese government clearly believes that the US and Chinese AI ecosystems should be completely separate, we should stop helping their ecosystem succeed! China's AI companies remain extremely reliant on US compute, AI models, and chipmaking tools. If we tighten the screws on China's access to US tech, the Chinese ecosystem will be even less attractive to founders, and more will just start companies overseas.

🇿🇼How could "one-man, one-vote" not have been the FOREMOST nationalist demand in fighting a system of racial minority rule that denied universal suffrage to majority black citizens. It was the MAIN DEMAND to bring freedom to black people in Zimbabwe: UZIBUSE or KUZVITONGA KUZERE.

Your vote is not going anywhere under CAB3. You still elect your MP. Your MP still forms government. Botswana has governed itself this way since independence. Germany too. India too. South Africa too. Are those people living under voteless tyranny? Let us take ourselves seriously for once.

At the ZITF, CMED and ZERA were promoting electric vehicles. The CMED stand featured an electric SUV called Riddara, which charges fully in 45 minutes and has a 400 km range. It can be charged anywhere with power, even at home. I also saw 18‑ and 35‑seater electric omnibuses. EVs need far less servicing than gasoline cars. Electric energy is the future. My next car will be an EV.

The City of Bulawayo
The City of Bulawayo@CityofBulawayo·
Botswana’s City of Francistown visited the City of Bulawayo to explore possible areas of cooperation with a possibility of establishing a twinning arrangement. The City of Francistown, is the second largest City in Botswana just like the City of Bulawayo is the second largest City in Zimbabwe. The meeting discussed possible areas of cooperation with considerations for Trade and Investment, Service Delivery, Tourism, Health, Governance, Institutional Strengthening, Sports Development and Agriculture. The Botswana delegation was headed by His Worship Honourable Gaone Majere, the Mayor of Francistown who was also accompanied by a Councillor and the Administrative team led by the Acting Town Clerk Ms Pedzani Selwana-Mahama. The City of Bulawayo was led by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Edwin Ndlovu who represented His Worship Senator David Coltart, the Mayor, the Town Clerk and the City’s management team. The Town Clerk Mr Christopher Dube, stated that it was crucial that the City of Bulawayo and City of Francistown establish a defined working relationship taking advantage of the Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission agreements which were presided over by His Excellency, Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and his counterpart, His Excellency, Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, the President of the Republic of Botswana earlier in the week. The two cities agreed to set up a joint committee to create the framework that will drive cooperation between the City of Bulawayo and the City of Francistown. The team also conducted a tour of the Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs, the Fire Station and also toured the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

“I do hope this will be the last round of xenophobic attacks that we'd be seeing in South Africa”, #Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says. "It is only when Africa unites that Africa's full potential will be realised. It is regrettable that in this modern era we'd see hatred such as xenophobia against each other, against Africans. It is totally unacceptable. It is condemnable. We'd do everything to protect our nationals to make sure that we demand from the South African government to protect our citizens and to keep them safe because they owe them duty of care. We'll continue to make sure that all South Africans living in Ghana are safe, protected and we will not encourage any reprisal attack. I do hope this will be the last round of xenophobic attacks that we'd be seeing in South Africa."
